Chapter 34

I couldn't even stand the fact that I was feeling so jealous and insecure. Kenzie was sitting opposite Cameron, and they were talking and laughing like they had known each other for years. While I was moving around the restaurant fulfilling orders, I kept one eye at them against my better judgement.

I shouldn't feel this way because the only thing in my life that I was sure of was his loyalty towards me. But, I didn't know what possessed me whenever she was around him. It wasn't that she was extraordinarily beautiful but there was just something about her that got Cameron took act differently. He was always smiling and laughing like a kid on Christmas.

I gathered my insecure thoughts and went up to them casually. "Hey, guys. Do you wanna order something?" I looked between them and they shared a look. Why was I feeling like an outsider here?

"Umm, what do you recommend?" Kenzie looked up at me curiously. I felt like I belonged to the lower class and she was my superior.

"You can try the croissants."

"Okay," She smiled. "That and a coffee for me please."

"Sure." I said nonchalantly, scribbling her order on my notepad. "And Cameron, you want anything?"

"No, I'm good," He also smiled and I forced a fake smile. "We ran into each other on the street and I was free so I invited her to meet you," He said and I forced a polite smile at Kenzie.

"Well, welcome to this not so fancy restaurant, Kenzie." I shrugged.

"Oh, this looks like a cool place." I knew she was being polite too.

"Well, Kennie asked me the craziest thing yesterday," Cameron started explaining, "You know she's in a band, right? And they need a new guitarist/back vocalist and she asked me! I thought about it and I was like what the hell, I'll do it! So that's one of the surprises I wanted to tell. I'm in a band!" He laughed and Kenzie laughed. But, I didn't.

"So, we're just discussing some songs here..." Kenzie continued, reasoning with Cameron.

"Yeah, okay. Do whatever you want," I blurted out my real thoughts out loud and it came out rude. "I'll just leave you to it." I tried to cover up my rudeness with a smile and walked away before saying any unnecessary thing.

"I think she's maybe just tired." I heard his voice trying desperately to explain the reason of my sudden departure. Indeed I was tired of feeling so insecure which was unlike me.

I didn't go to their table after that, I requested Lily to deliver their order. I channelised my anger in serving the other customers quickly and as a result got a lot of tips. In that adverse scenario, money brought me some happiness.

After my shift was over, they were still talking animatedly. I heaved a sigh and trudged their way. "Cameron, my shift's over. So, I'm leaving. Just call me if you wanna tell something." Or don't, I don't care.

I was about to turn away from him when he quickly rushed, "Oh no, no! We're just about done."

"Yeah, Ally. You guys can totally hang out, I'm leaving anyways." I thought she had recalled my rude burst out because she was packing her laptop so fast as if I was going to attack her.

She got up from her seat and I moved out of the way. She stopped to give a parting smile to Cameron, "So, I'll see you after Spring break, Bye!" She reached to the other side of the table and gave a side hug to him. "Ally," She nodded at me with a smile and left.

"You're little cranky today? Everything alright?" Cameron immediately asked after she was out.

I relaxed my tensed shoulders, I tend to get all stiff around her. "No, I'm alright." Except the fact that I was feeling extremely jealous that Kenzie probably spent hours with him everyday at school while I only got to see him on weekends.
