Chapter 30
It was a beautiful day to be outdoors, the weather wasn't too hot or too cold, it was just perfect. I was laying on the fresh soft grass on campus watching the tree leaves rustle with the breeze. Many other students were also enjoying the warm afternoon at the park just a day before Valentine's day.
I was circled by my own friends enagaged in some conversation about dogs. I had nothing on my mind, I was just letting the fresh air rejuvenate my soul. The last two weeks had been hard and surprisingly easy too.
As I distracted myself from the pain of missing Cameron by indulging in my hobby, it was easy. Every other day, I would spend an hour training with the dancers. But, when his memories rushed unexpectedly it was hard forcing myself to not call him or text him. He had only texted me twice last week, when he suddenly noticed my absence.
One message was- 'Hey' and other 'What happened? Why aren't you replying?'. When I didn't reply to any of his messages, he stopped texting altogether.
It was quite a shock for me but I adapted. I couldn't be sad for long, or he'd win. I figured he wanted me to come after him, asking for forgiveness, but I didn't. And it was bothering him that's why he was ignoring that I wasn't talking to him.
I wasn't going to get caved into his emotional blackmailing. He was well aware that I cannot stand to see him sad because of me. He was waiting for me to apologize again. But, this time I had made up my mind. I wasn't going to apologize even if it meant that we were breaking up. He had to come to me.
I sighed and opened my eyes to the bright day. Xander, who sat opposite of me, was laughing hysterically and the others were laughing at him.
I sat up and put my arms around my knees."What's so funny, guys?" I asked looking how Xander was banging his hands on the ground elated about something.
Kai turned to me, straightened his spine and looked at me with amusement. "Well, while you were napping... He ate weed brownies by mistake."
My mouth hung open and as I recovered I broke into laughter too. "That is awesome! Who brought those brownies?"
"Me!" Grayson shot his hand up and I gave him a high five. "Now, he'd understand that he shouldn't eat every damn thing that he sees." That was true, Xander was big foodie.
"Guys, why are you laughing?" Xander said sneering again. "You know what? I feel so light man, like I'm floating." Then he tumbled backwards onto the ground and started talking to the grass strands about Toy Story.
"Let's talk to him about his crush!" Ava suggested and we had to pull his heavy body back up.
"Xan, why don't you ask Grace out for Valentine's day?" Kai asked tentatively.
"Yeah, I will! Look there she is!" He shamelessly pointed out to the blonde sitting in the park like others. "She's so beautiful... Wow, why is she holding a piano?"
No, she was reading a book. Obviously he was hallucinating. After laughing at his stupid behaviour, we told him to go talk to her.
"He would have never asked her out if he was sober!" Kai informed us as we watched him crawl up to her. He literally crawled up to her on all fours like a baby. Fortunately, she was sitting a few feet away.
He smiled uncontrollably and talked to her. We were carefully watching and waiting for Grace to reject him. When he crawled back to us he grinned at us and collapsed on the ground closing his eyes.
"Bro, what happened?" I asked looming over his face.
He opened his eyes. "This is the best day of my life..." He started crying tears of joy literally. "She said yes! Oh my god, I can't believe it... I wanna thank you guys for always being supportive, my parents and finally god!" He finished like it was an award acceptance speech.
