Chapter 27
After making out on the floor for an eternity, being back in Cameron's arms made me feel whole again. We didn't talk much, we just enjoyed each other's presence. It was as if I could finally breathe.
We were sitting on the couch watching TV when he felt asleep on my shoulder. I slowly put his small head on a pillow and elongated his legs on the couch.
It was still raining so I couldn't leave. I stood up by the window and just smiled at the rain blurring every street light. I looked back at Cameron, dozed off on the couch, his mouth slightly open. He looked like a complete dork.
I smiled thinking about the rollercoaster ride our relationship had been. I would be lying if I said I always liked him in the past ten months. But I never once stopped loving him and maybe that's what kept us going. We never stopped caring for each other even when we were fighting.
That's what real love is- caring for each other even when you don't want to.
The kitchen light caught my attention and I decided to make dinner for him. I was hoping we could forget the past few weeks and start afresh. And we hadn't had a real date in months because our schedules never matched.
I pulled out my phone and searched for grilled chicken recipes. I carefully and very quietly handled the cooking pans and knives not willing to wake him up. I followe the recipe with whatever ingredients I could find in the pantry.
After an hour, dinner was ready and I found ice-cream in his fridge. So I decided to make an ice cream sundae for dessert. I was cleaning up the mess I had made on the marble platfom when Cameron stumbled into the kitchen.
"Hey..." He said in his rough drowsy voice.
I turned around and found him smiling at me. I smiled back. "We're going on a date." I announced.
"Really? But it's still raining."
"No, we can have our date right here. I made dinner." I said excitedly.
He picked up my excitement very slowly. Maybe he was still feeling sleepy. "Wow... That's great."
"Okay. So wash up and sit down. Dinner is ready."
"Yes, madame." He quickly bent to kiss my cheek and hurried off to the bathroom.
I arranged the plates on the counter and placed two chairs on either sides. He walked out rubbing a towel on his face. "Oh, wow. Ally, you made all this!" He exclaimed throwing away the towel on the couch and quickly walking to our little counter/table.
He settled down in opposite of me and his eyes lit up at the food on the plate. "This looks amazing. Thank you!"
"Please, that's the least I can do. I don't guarantee that it tastes good."
"I'm sure it's delicious."
"Dig in." I said and we both took a bite of the chicken and rice.
I examined the taste of the chicken. "It could use a little spice." I told.
"No, it's good. You know what, you should become a chef." He nodded his head with a big grin on his face.
I thought only for a moment before denouncing the idea. "Chef? Really? I pulled this out of the internet. Anyone can do that."
"I can't!" He screamed. "Why don't think you're good enough?"
"Because I'm not." I bent my head down feeling embarrassed for having no real talent.
I felt his hand push up my chin. He wasn't smiling instead he had a grave look in his eyes. "You are good enough for me." His words touched my heart and for once I didn't feel that talentless.
