Chapter 24
The next day when I went to work, Grayson was already cleaning the table while talking to Lily. It looked like they were having pretty serious conversation because her face was grimaced.
I approached them, and carefully asked, "What are you guys talking about?”
"Ally, that guy who we thought to be a ‘gentleman’ turned out to be an asshole!” She retorted.
Then it all came back to me. How she was swooning over the guy by the window and finally asked him out. "Ohh…I'm sorry… What did he do though?”
"He was too forward and getting all touchy. I had to push him away from me by the end.” She complained taking her tray of coffee and a slice of cake to a customer.
"That sucks. Why are hot guys such selfish jerks?” I asked loudly and Grayson looked up from cleaning.
"I don't know. But I'm sure they are still some decent guys left.”
"I really hope there are. ‘Cause if a smart girl like Lily can't meet a guy, it's a shame.”
I strode towards the employee room and wore my t-shirt and apron. When I returned I saw Grayson coming with an empty tray. He sat it down on the counter beside me and informed, "Table 6 is yours.”
"Okay. Cool.” I was going to that table with my notepad when Grayson’s voice paused me.
"You're coming to Kai’s party?” He asked.
"Yeah. Why, aren't you?”
"I don't know… I usually work more on weekends.”
"Oh come on, it's just one evening. You can miss one night.” I whined.
"Every hour pays, Ally.” He stressed. I had considered myself to be an economical person. But, Grayson was even above me when it comes to money.
"I've never been to a club before!” I whined again. "Come on, it'll be so fun! And everything’s free.”
"Frankly, I've never been to a club before too. I was kinda embarrassed, I thought I was the only one since they all live in Cali.” He smiled excitedly.
"Really? I thought I was the only one! Now, you have to come, Grayson!” I ordered him.
He thought for a while with a big grin on his face. "Okay. Let's do it!” He highfived my hand and I walked over to attend my table feeling a little bounce in my step as I thought about the party. I was hoping it would be the New Year party I never had.

Cameron arrived on Friday as his classes started on Monday. I was going to surprise him by visiting his apartment uninvited. But I was the one who was surprised when he opened the door.
"Hey, Ally… What a surprise!” He said as he reached to hug me. There were loud and high pitched noises coming from behind him which peaked my attention.
I stopped him halfway with a firm hand. "Is there someone inside?”
He opened the door further and I could see the faces clearly. "Yeah, Sophia and Kenzie came to surprise me.”
Wow. So now they were stealing ideas out of my head.
"Come on in.” He said, placing his hand on my back.
"Hey Ally!” They greeted together in their too preppy voice. I felt like punching them in the face because they looked very hot in their respective dresses. I couldn't help but feel a little insecure in my minions t-shirt and jeans. No wonder he spent so much time with them. They were classy and sophisticated unlike me.
