When I started doing preparation works for the theater, I did not expect all this
Having to individually manufacture each of the children's costumes and gear
Monsters are quite different from one another. Makes me often reminisce
Of my own kids. Of my human wife. And the work-shifts I do throughout all year

I remember the bygone days. They feel so distant, yet it has not been that long
From the beginning of the year, I feel that I have left something so far behind
My carefree self. What human sentiment I must have listened to in the theater's song
All the children dance and sing to it. It does my heart good, and it clears my mind

A song about how life works; its twists and turns it takes on us every day
The smallest critter begins the play as I watch from the backstage with happiness
He does not sing, for he does not know the language of the infant way
He moves around and around. Enjoying and blissfully discovering all but sadness

Then, his life shifts. His line of work changes from toddler, to little kid
He has a new work-shift to get through. That of school and the outside labors
Oh but he learns quickly. With smarts, the kid's imagination has been lid
He grows ever smarter. Even tackling the chores thrusted upon him by his neighbors

Quite the reliable fellow he is. But life shifts again, and he is now in puberty
So many workflows to choose from. So many opportunities to grow more lie in front
He is confused. Seeing and imagining himself as so many things, he is robbed of his liberty
What would he be by adulthood? A new character appears for him to confront

The monster of anxiety attacks! A dueling duet of a fiercely song and dance
He is injured by indecision, but he prevails thanks to the presence of his family
Many more come into stage. Members he trusts kill anxiety's final chance
But a new foe creeps in. From anxiety's corpse, expectation comes into his reality!

What would he do if he does not meet his family's hopes and dreams for him?
A path they helped him choose seems so unstable, yet they await his crossing
Expectation shadows grow bigger. Obscuring his shaken path to a light most slim
Their eyes turned red with anger and disappointment as they give life a glossing

Beware kid. For it is falsehoods and their broken goals they hope for you to achieve
Do not conform to their saying. Do what you want, even if it breaks the family line!
Be the human that you want to be. Monstrosity is the lies a heart is made to believe
You are not Frankenstein's monster anymore. Use the fire in their eyes and shine!

Be not afraid to walk alone. Be not afraid of reaching adulthood all on your own!
Greet the darkness you crossed to, and disperse its influence with your achievements
Yet, be ready and be still. Pride and arrogance are stumbles we are often prone
Lurking monsters they are. Killing your passion and leaving you in its bereavements

Protect what you love. Since infancy, all the way up to adulthood
Power is taken from passion. The surge and fountain of your life's shifts
Interests so potent, they can toss around and scramble your livelihood
Control and be steady. Do so, and you will be ready to accept work's gifts

An increase in income. A promotion. Unique and useful connections
Maybe you could meet your soulmate. Perhaps you will acquire material goods
All in all, you will be the most powerful version of yourself and stir life in all directions
You make the shifts now. What work you are doing, keep at it and be out of the woods!

You! No longer the monster in the woods, but a human in the big city!
You! Worker of a second-rate theater, how is it going in the graveyard shift?
You! Husband of a monster wife, what causes her feral periodicity?
You! Shapeshifter, how does it feel to live a life so swift?

Do you enjoy the costumes? How should I address you now?
The wolf of the woods, or the only human in this city?
Break her mirrored passion and shift her perception of thou
Work on yourselves, and let the interspecies love shift your relationship's mutuality
