Chapter 41- Dinner time!

Tori

"K.C you have to come! My dad wants to meet you and he just cancelled his trip because of you.!" I say to him on the phone.

"Tori, I have plans, me and Mason are going somewhere. I can't just bail on him. He'll be mad, I already did it twice because of you."

"Well, he's welcome here as well, bring him along"

"I am pretty sure he doesn't want to come. And I can't just make him. Beside, it's freaking weird. Serena is there and her dad."

"K.C, my dad doesn't mess around. If you don't come he'll forbid me from seeing you, yes it's very melodramatic, but like I said he doesn't mess around." He doesn't say anything, I know that he is thinking. I can hear him breath.

"I'll try to talk Mason into it, but just for an hour then we leave again." He says.

"Just for dinner."

"Okay, I'll be there. Bye." He says and hangs up.

I go and tell my dad that K.C's coming.He came over earlier and we are all going to have a dinner. My dad said he needed to talk to my mom. And no it's not awkward at all that my dad is having dinner with his ex-wife and her fiance. And it's not awkward at all that K.C is coming over here to meet my dad while Serena and her dad are here. This is just a normal day in the big family we have.

My mom is preparing dinner with Carrie and it smells good. Serena has no idea that K.C is coming. My dad actually doesn't even know that he is Serena's ex. That will be awkward too. I have been hiding from Neal, after the episode at his house. So seeing him today will also be awkward. Let's just say that today will be full of awkwardness.

I get dressed and so does everybody else. Brad sets up the plates and cutlery. I actually like that he does it by himself and doesn't hire a maid to do it, but it still doesn't mean that I like him.

K.C and Mason should be here any minute now. The front door gets opened, I run to see who it is but freeze when I see Neal. I haven't really prepared anything to say so I just turn around and hurry away again, before he says anything, but then I hear K.C's voice. I walk back to the door, past Neal. I see my dad, waiting to greet him.

"Hey babe- K.C" I say and squeeze his hand. He sees my dad and gives my hand a squeeze too. I've told him how to behave around him, so I hope he follows my instructions.

"Hi Tori." He says and walks over to my dad and shakes his hand.

"Mr. James, it's great to finally meet you. I'm K.C" he says and lets go of my dad's hand. I told my dad to take it easy, but I don't think he will.

"Believe me, the pleasure is all mine". I look behind me and see Mason entering.

"Hey, Mace"

"Hey Tori." He says and smiles. "Hello Tori's dad." He says and walks over to K.C. My mom comes and she greets them too and ask everyone to sit at the table. Serena went out, so she won't even be here- that's great. Then the dinner will be less awkward. Everybody takes a seat and I do my best to avoid eye contact with Neal. I get a seat right in front of him, just perfect.

"I'm glad you could come, K.C and you too Mason." My mom says and brings the chicken to the table. They both just smile. I know that none of them really wants to be here. Brad sits across my dad and my mother beside her fiance. My mom starts serving the dinner and everybody is eating, no one is saying anything. I don't know why my dad hasn't started with his investigation yet. Maybe it's because of Brad and my mom. He just eats his food and looks down at his plate. This couldn't get more awkward.
