Amidst my revelation I decided the most reasonable course of action, that I always devolve to, is telling Ziggy everything. I look around the crowd to see if I can spot her, or at least George. If I find one of them I must certainly find the other. The crowd of students looked like a large herd of animals, all of them bumping around each other as if they had no spacial awareness.
I was no exception as I quickly bump into someone.
"I am so sorry!" I say immediately, before I look forward and see it's Hermione.
"Cas hi! I haven't seen you all night!" She said, grabbing my hand away from the large crowds.
"You look stunning, are you here with anyone?"
She looked gorgeous. A normalcy for her but the periwinkle colour of her dress really brought out the her hair. She looked like a princess.
"Not with anyone in particular, no." I said pretty sheepishly.
She gave me a peering look, "Going home with anyone then?"
"Maybe..."
"Do I get to know who or is it more secretive?""That is to be found out."
She smiled, "Well, you must come and dance with Ginny and I."
I pause, "It wouldn't hurt, I've already had a pretty eventful night."
Hermione laughed, grabbing my hand and leading me over to Ginny. She was dancing aimlessly with Luna, who was twirling around Ginny, flipping her hands all over the place.
"What dance is that Luna?" I asked, subtly tapping her on the shoulder.
"Oh hello Cas! There is no proper name for it, my father does it often and I found it quite unique so I decided to take my own version of it." She said, continuing her spinning the second she finished talking.
"Does it not make you dizzy?" I question.
"Not at all if you know how to spin."
I appreciated her directness. She looked very lovely in her dress. It had frills, fluff, feathers, flounces, fishnet and even faux fur. It was an amalgamation of textures and sizes but Luna seemed to pull it off elegantly. It was a pale lavender colour that matched her large dangly earrings. Her outfit entirely juxtaposed Ginny's, who was wearing a very simple outfit. It was a floor length plain black dress, but she made it more her with a lot of unique jewelry. Her necklace in specific looked like they were the same material as Luna's earrings so I assume she made them for her.
The music blared loudly and for a while it felt like an infinite loop of claustrophobic swaying. As fun as the dancing was, everyone was pretty much on the dance floor, jumping or swaying or dipping or dancing. Quite the sweaty occasion but a fun one nonetheless.
I grabbed Hermione, dancing in sync. I decided to spin her around and dip her, hoping she wouldn't fall, I successfully was able to hold onto her and bring her back up. A minute detail that I felt very proud of.
I had completely forgotten the whole point of my stepping out until I feel a tap from somewhere behind me. It was Ziggy.
"Jamie! Where have you been, I haven't seen you 'till now?"
I debated telling her about Mattheo, but I decided I shouldn't say anything until there's something concrete going on between us.
So instead I just say, "Exploring, you don't expect me to stick to Freddie all night do you?"
She grabs my hand, swaying with me and eventually bumping her hip into mine. All five of us girls were dancing in unison and for a moment I even forget we're at a school dance. Sometimes I'd step a little too far to my left and bump into Hermione, to my right I'd bump into Zig, and in front of me if I trip and fall I'm sure Luna and Ginny would catch me.
Admiring my friend's smiling faces, I felt kind of emotional about it. If anything I'd say I felt thankful. I was surrounded by the most lovely women I've ever met. They're all so unique, kind, quick-witted, smart and beautiful. I appreciate every single one of them, all they've done for me, the times they've spent consoling me. Every laugh, every tear, every joke, every argument, everything.
"I love you guys so much!" I nearly yell at them as the music seems to blare louder.
Ziggy and Hermione give me a kiss on the cheek at the same time, Luna and Ginny holding my hand tightly. I felt like I had just met them. During my first year at Hogwarts, I knew we were going to all be close friends. Each one of them were those types of girls that built you up despite the circumstances. They're supportive, relentless, but still respectful.
I enjoy their blissful annoyance because it is an experience I can't earn from anyone else. I adore my girls. In every way that is deemed fit. They are the most wonderful people I've ever met, and I will forever regard them as so.
