29. Monica

"Hello Jimmy." Debbie remarked when Steve came in. Davina looked between them confused.

"You got a twin, Steve?" Davina questioned.

"Inside joke." Steve offered.

"Right." Davina agreed confused but she headed off. "Hey I'm going to have another late night so Fi is on morning duty tomorrow." Davina warned.  She found sandor outside with a steaming hot cup of caffeine. 

"You working tonight?"

"Yeah." Davina mumbled as she got dressed. He reached out for her.

"Figured you were and would need this." 

"Thank you." Davina agreed taking a long sip. 

"I got my dads chemo shit. Dont know when I will be done.  When do you get off? But I could pick you up". Sandor offered.

"Six". Davina answered

"That's early or late depending". Sandor remarked kissing her shoulder

"I wont hold you to it if you cant. I know your family is difficult too". Davina assured. "I wouldn't want to wake up that early".

"I will be there at 5:59". Sandor assured.

I love you. Words she wouldn't say because she didnt want to scare him but she did. She loved him.

"You are the best sandor". She gave him a kiss before shoving on her boots. "The best!" She turned back to him. Fuck it. "I love you." She added before heading off.

Davina did her rounds before Tyrion made his appearance making sure everything was running smoothly and for his nightly drink before he got back to work. 

"Hey tyrion you remember my sister fiona right?"

"You got drunk at a bachelorette party with her and the bride to be. Got up on stage and danced... with your clothes on. Tyrion agreed.

"So that's what happened that night". Davina mused. "Anyways-"

"Don't need another waitress". Tyrion cut her off. "Always take new dancers though". He added as he walked off  

"Let me know if that changes?" Davina questioned tyrion gave her a one finger salute as he kept going. "Thanks boss!"

"Mom. It-it's Mom." Debbie whispered.

"Debbie. Oh, my sweet pea." Monica cooed. 

Davina was asleep, if she was awake she would have put a stop to this, because they knew well enough not to trust a sober frank or Monica coming back into their lives. 

"Oh, poor Monica. Well, what about your kids?!" Frank shouted. "Remember? The seven kids? Youngest was only two months old before you ran off. Ended up with... fucking Shrek here." Frank hissed looking over Monicas latest lover, a large black woman that resembled, well Shrek.

"You want me to step in here, Monica?"

"No, I didn't leave you, Frank." Monica assured.

"Yes, you did."

"I didn't choose to leave my family. You almost destroyed me." Monica countered. "When I turned up at Roberta's that night, I was an... Emotional cripple!"

"Oh, bullshit." Frank hissed.

"With not one ounce of self-respect. You almost destroyed me. I'm gonna start crying. You drove me into the ground, Frank. You-you robbed me of any sense of dignity I ever had, and... Where's the rest of the kids?"

Hell hath no fury like popcorn burned. Davina stared down at the smoky bag and grumbled. 

"What do you care?! You'll be living with Steve in that house he bought next door" Debbie shouted. Davinas head turned.

"Steve bought the place next door, so its like serious then." Davina realized.

"He bought it I'm not moving in like you and sandor-'"

"I havent moved in, here I am. I pulled an all nighter, whats wrong with this family lately?" Davina demanded. 

"Oh!" Monica cooed, Davina turned around, a glare stuck on her face. "Look at you! You're all so big." Monica declared. "I missed you so much."

"Well, why didn't you take us with you?" Carl questioned.

"Because..." Monica looked at the twins. "I knew you'd be fine with Fiona and Davina."

"Oh my God." Davina whispered thinking she was seeing a ghost. "Fi-"

"You are not hallucinating." Fiona agreed grabbing her hand. 

"What did mommy miss?" MOnica questioned. 

"Well, you know how Dad's a total fucking asshole?" Lip questioned.

"Yeah."

"Turns out he's the good one." Davina added.

"Oh, I can't believe you sucked me back in here for money!" Monica hissed. The kids shared a confused look as Frank came in the door.

"I did no such thing." Frank corrected. "But since you're in town, why don't you sign up for this little thing and I will cut you in..."

"Oh, fuck you, Frank!" Monica shouted.

"Wait, you brought her back here?" Ian questioned.

"Oh, Ian." Monica declared.

"Wait, you knew where she was the whole time?" Davina questioned.

"Okay, look, this little reunion was bound to happen sooner or later anyway." Roberta aka Bob aka Shrek declared. "We were thinking about coming around to talk to you about something else."

"No, no... Yes, now. Yes, now." Monica corrected.

"What the fuck is going on?" Davina demanded.

"Moni and I want to take Liam to live with us." Bob declared. The man woman more demanded it.

"What?!" Fiona spat.

"Over my dead body." Davina shouted.

"How about Moni sign whatever the hell it is you need... we get Liam." Shrek decided.

" Done." Frank agreed.

"No fucking way! You can't have Liam." Lip demanded. Davina picked him up holding liam close.

"Why the hell not?" Monica questioned.

"He's not even Frank's. Fact is, Liam is black." Shrek shouted. "All you white folks scooping up black babies like fashion accessories have a rude awakening coming. There will be a backlash if people don't stop underestimating the cultural importance of a black parent raising a black baby."

"Liam needs me and he's coming with us." Monica agreed.

"Out of the fucking question, Roberta." Fiona sassed.

"Roberta and I want to start a family of our own." Monica added.

"Well, how about you finish this one first." Fiona demanded.

"Give me the baby."

"No!" Davina corrected holding tight to liam. Shrek gave davina a shove back and she stumbled into the table falling to the ground, Shrek scooped up Liam as Davina got to her feet.

"Stay down girl." Shrek grumbled.

"No, nobody's taking anyone anywhere." Fiona demanded.

"You don't get to abandon your kids and then show up one day to take your pick of the litter." Davina agreed.

"Oh, now that's not fair." Monica countered.

"Your mother's made mistakes, but she's here now." Frank added "That's got to count for something."

"Shut up, Frank!"
