Tom rolled over, kissing my forehead and bringing me close to his warm chest. His cologne filling the air around me. The sun came in through the windows as we laid still, our breath slow. "You gotta pack babe." He said suddenly. I pull back from him, confused. "Pack a bag, for what?" I asked, what the hell.
"Just pack one V." He said getting out of the bed, putting his shirt on. I sit up in the bed staring at him, what the hell did he mean pack a bag. Were we going somewhere? His face didn't have an expression to it, so maybe this wasn't a good thing. I couldn't tell.
He walked out of the room, shutting the door behind him. Part of me thought I was getting kicked out but that sounds insane but never say never. I put some clothes, and went into the closet grabbing a suitcase. Might as well, even though I have no idea what's fucking happening.
I packed a bunch of different options and a swimsuit, just in case. After I zip the fat ass suitcase shut, I head down to the kitchen with an uneasy feeling of confusion. I sat down next to Taylor at the island. Her eyes held a nervous glint, mirroring the uncertainty I felt. "Did Bill tell you to pack a bag?" I asked, my voice hushed, already knowing the answer. She nodded, her fingers now nervously biting at her nails.
Just then, Marie emerged from around the corner, her expression a mix of annoyance and confusion. She slumped down in the seat next to me with a heavy sigh. "Why the fuck am I packing?" she demanded, her frustration evident.
Taylor met her gaze and responded, "Either we're getting kicked out, or we're finally leaving this hell house." The words hung in the air, laden with the weight of uncertainty, As we contemplated the reasons for packing our bags, the sound of footsteps approaching the kitchen broke the silence. Their expressions were a mix of concern and determination, and they had their own bags in hand. Tom spoke up, his voice carrying the weight of the decision. "It's time," he said, and the gravity of those words settled in, a signal that we were indeed leaving behind the familiar, for better or for worse.
We loaded all the bags in the different cars. I shut the trunk, heading around the house turning off the lights. Tom walked down the stairs, shutting off the last light. "Tom what does this mean?" He wraps an around me, walking out. "Just get in the car V." He opened the door for me, and put my seatbelt around me, kissing my cheek. Fuck, are we really leaving for good? He backed out and sped off onto the road. This was all over my head, it's not like we packed anything but clothes so no way he just left the house. But it had to mean something bad, the way no one told us why or where we were going. Tom focused on the road, shifting gears and hitting the gas. The long road stretched ahead, disappearing into the distance as I lit a cigarette, inhaling deeply and letting the smoke fill the air. My eyes remained fixed on the seemingly endless highway, lost in thought.
Tom, focused and determined, drove in silence, the rhythmic thumping of the music through the car's speakers. The sun had started to set and I was so fucking bored sitting in this car, not talking. I was getting irritated. "Please, where are we going."
"You'll see." He replied his eyes still on the road. I grab his hand, interlocking his fingers with mine as I lay my against his shoulder. Might as well accept the unknown.
...
"V wake up." I open my eyes and move away from Tom. The darkness enveloped us as we came to a stop. Tom exited the car and made his way around to my side. When I stepped out of the vehicle, the dim glow of the car's taillights revealed a surprising sight behind us.
A plane stood there in the darkness, its presence casting an eerie and unexpected contrast to the desolate landscape. The silhouette of the aircraft against the night sky carried my confusion still.
"Like what you see?" Tom's voice broke the silence, his words carrying a playful tone. He spun me around, his hands firm yet gentle on my waist, and pulled me in for a kiss. As he lifted me up in a cradle, I couldn't help but laugh, the sound echoing in the night air. With each step he took, carrying me up the stairs of the plane, there was a sense of adventure and intimacy that enveloped us. The plane's interior, was white and all lit up. Everyone else sat on the couches across from each other, drinking out of champagne glasses. I have never been on anything this fancy before. Tom let me down, and I sat next to Taylor who handed me a glass. "Can you believe this shit." She said smiling and gripping onto me. I laughed and looked up at everyone else.
