The information did seem surprising to me at first. How could they let this happen?

"Hold on, if they're using advanced magics, how did you guys find out?"

"Greg felt the magic traces and I took some time to investigate. I managed to catch the demons gather and talk to one another. It was a language I didn't understand however so I couldn't quite understand what they were saying."

"That does sound plausible. In that case there is a big problem."

"What do you mean?"

"Does the army know? It's the third time some kind of demon enters nilly-willy like this, there is a security problem."

"...Third?"

"Yes. The invasion, that guy that scared the crap out of me after injuring you all, and now this."

"Right. In any case, we're deciding to investigate further before notifying the army. Wouldn't want things to get difficult for civilians."

"That's fair. We don't know how they'll react and it's always best to try and keep civilians out of this kind of mess. In that case, I think you're right. But then, again, why tell me?"

"For two reasons. The first one is that I know you're capable of helping with your powerful magic. That means you can pick up on the magic just like Greg could and get us more information. Secondly, it's because you might be more directly targeted."

"What do you mean?"

"Well, you're a Yokai aren't you? They might target you first to either try and enlist you, try and silence you, or be seen as potential culprit as soon as it is found by the emperor."

"...Right. So you'd rather I'm aware and work towards providing information against them both because I might know more and because it'll help prove my innocence."

"Yes."

"What if I'm already a part of their job and you accidentally admitted to knowing about our undercover agents?"

"I doubt you're like that. First of all, why would you go to such lengths as enter the academy? Secondly, you wouldn't have obtained the Emperor's trust."

"...How can you tell, again?"

"Well, I guess it's just a gut feeling," he awkwardly laughed.

"Alright," I sighed. "Don't worry, this is the first time I hear of this, I'm not woth them. I'll see what I can do."

"Thank you. Just make sure not to get caught."

He got up, waved at me and left right afterwards. I watched him leave, sighed once more to keep my thoughts in order and left myself. I had thought about staying a little longer to prevent looking suspicious but I lacked money.

I went back to the academy. Once inside, I went to find Sayuri and we did some patrolling until lunch. We ate and went to practice her magic some more. I had Alice take care of her with a summoned goblin and took that time to try and figure out how exactly to help Souji out with what he asked.

My first thought was to figure out how to not be found while investigating. Though using my young girl appearance and faking ignorance could be useful, it wouldn't be feasible here. The lack of safety for me was already enough to not take that option seriously but it results in effectively making them know they were found out anyways.

I couldn't find any other possibilities over the time we had. Starting tomorrow I would have classes anyways so I'd have to postpone the situation. Sayuri and I ate dinner and went to sleep.
