Chapter 27: Teamfight part 1

My eyes slowly opened, my mind still hazy from the night before. I sat up, rubbed them and looked around.

"Good morning Lilia. You should hurry up, class starts soon."

I was unsure of what she had said. I took a bit to think of it and realised... I slept in. Panic set in as I jumped off the bed and headed directly to the closet. I grabbed one of my uniforms and went into the bathroom to change.

I changed as quickly as I could, still making sure to do it correctly. As I was putting on the jacket, the bell rang.

"Shit," I mumbled.

I gave up on trying to be thorough and left it at being good enough. Once done, I headed out directly without another world. As I was close to the door to the classroom, the bell rang again. I entered anyways and went directly to sit down.

"Lilia, you're late," Tanaka-sensei said sternly as I sat.

"Barely but I guess that's true. Sorry, I slept in."

"I hope it won't happen again."

"I hope not either."

The class then started. Nothing interesting happened until the afternoon's practical classes. I thought about what I could do for the mission I recently got but could not find any answer of my own. Instead, I decided to ask Koko-sensei.

To my surprise, she decided to change our schedule for the day.

"Today, we're gonna have another round of fights. However, it will be in two versus two format. I'll let you guys make your teams and I'll explain after, okay?"

I didn't really ask myself who to choose. However, as soon as people started going around to choose a partner, a large swarm gathered.

"Hey Lilia-chan, partner with me!" a girl said.

"No, come with me!" another guy said

They would start arguing about who I should partner with, creating a large and annoying group.

"Hold on hold on," I said to make them stop screaming. "I already know who I'm gonna go with."

I broke apart from the group and went to meet Sayuri who was timidly waiting aside.

"Hey Sayuri, wanna do it together?"

"Ah, Lilia. I'm sorry, someone else asked already..."

"Oh? Did you accept?"

"Y-Yes..."

"Ah. Well, that's alright. Good luck then, I hope we meet in the finals if it's a tournament."

I was trying not to show it, but I was getting worried about the situation. If Sayuri was going to fight with someone else, I would have to choose someone else and I didn't know anyone.

Eventually, someone came up to my mind. I figured he'd be chosen already but it was worth a shot all the same. I reached the guy that tried to bully me and Sayuri before as he was walking around alone.

"Hey, uhm..."

He turned around and looked at me.

"You talking to me?"

"Yes. I just don't know your name, thinking of it."

"Why would I want to tell you anyways? What do you want."

"Wanna team up?"

"Why would I want to team up with you?"

"Cuz I think you're strong if reckless. There's lots we can learn from one another."
