"Everything is better with you. Everything has been better since you."

I fumble for my phone as the alarm blares through my room. I sit up in bed and turn on my playlist, allowing myself one song before I get up.
It's Monday. Yay.
The Alien pulls up at 7:42, and I leave the house, catching a glimpse of a half-awake West stumbling into the kitchen. The drive is fun like usual, Amber talking about the newest boy on her roster and blasting music.
And now is first block. Precal. I hate this frickin' class, but I love Mr. Thomas.
"Nico," he greets me as I walk in. "I hope your weekend was good, but it couldn't have been better than mine."
I stop, ignoring the bragging tone in his voice. "Did Ellie have her baby?"
His eyebrows scrunch together. "No. I went to golfing some guys from college. I doubt your weekend was as much fun—"
"Mr. Thomas," Kent comes up to his desk. "I had a question about the assignment."
Mr. Thomas nods and shoots a quick, "I'll tell Ellie you said hi" before going back to the student.
I nod a greeting at Kent before walking to my desk. Valen is lounging in the seat beside mine, and his smile lightens my Monday Mood.
"Hey," I greet.
"Hey," He smiles. "Um, there's a gala coming up. Sunday. Is that—is it okay? Can you go?"
I open my calendar on my phone quickly, setting my bag down beside me. "Hm, let me check. Yep, I can."
I turn to him with a smile. "Because what are fake-girlfriends for, right?"

Luckily, we aren't in the lab for Chemistry B Block. Unluckily, Margo sits down behind me. Perfect. Monday Mood is back on.
"Hey, Mal, Valen's newest has decided to sit in front of us," a voice calls.
I do my best to ignore them, especially as Dr. Brently starts the lecture.
"She's trying to rub it in your face," another voice states. "He asked her to be his girlfriend at the party."
Margo's voices seethes behind me. "That's the first I've heard of it. I guess he pulled the same thing with her but actually remembered this time. Or maybe he liked what he saw better."
