"She had a wild, wandering soul but when she loved, she loved with chaos and that made all
the difference."

I really messed up.
I severely underestimated how upset Nico would be with me. I was prepared for a small talking to, and then an apology from me.
I was not prepared for the haunted and panicked look on her face everytime she saw me or whenever I spoke to her. I was not prepared for the silence and the pulling away. I was not prepared to lose the girl I love before I ever even truly had a chance to love her.
I messed up egregiously.
And it's Sunday. There is nothing else I can do but go pick her up and try to apologize.
Damn it all to hell.
I start the car, feeling my anxiety rise. I spent all afternoon trying to fix myself up. I even styled my hair. I wore my best suit and my best matching green tie. I almost bought her flowers, but I wasn't sure what she'd do with them when I gave them to her, and I don't want them to wilt without water.
Although, now that I'm almost to her house, I've realized she could've just set them in a vase inside her place before we left for the gala.
Stupid.
I park outside the townhouse and take a deep breath. I open my door and get out to greet her at the door, but I see her already walking out of the house and to my car. I quickly head around to the passenger side and open her door, and she thanks me quietly.
The drive is silent.
I look at the ETA. We have about ten minutes left. That should be enough time to talk about this but not too much time if the conversation goes south.
"Uh, Nico?" I offer. "I... You look absolutely stunning. The green of your dress and the way you did your, um, makeup stuff makes your eyes look really pretty."
She mumbles a "thank you."
I take a deep breath. "Um, would you—uh, Wou—Could—Can I, um. Can I say something?"
I glance over, but Nico is looking straight ahead. With no words of refutation, I start. "Nico, I messed up."
I see her head shift towards me quickly from my peripheral.
I keep my eyes on the road. "Um, I have no excuse for the fighting. I threw the first punch. Sam, um. He said some pretty terrible things, and I let my anger get the best of me. I know I told you I wouldn't start a physical fight, and I'm really sorry."
