"she turned to me and said, "hold me, "
so i dropped my own world i had been holding and picked her up with both hands"

She isn't sure?
I knew she was nervous about a relationship, or the answer to whatever question she thought I asked, but her feelings?
I thought I knew. All the comments from Rikkard and the other guys. My own experience.
You should see the way she looks at you.
Am I crazy? Are we all crazy?
Maybe I shouldn't confess. Maybe she doesn't want that. Maybe, since she's such a sweet, kind girl, she doesn't want to hurt me by telling me she doesn't feel the same as I do.
Maybe I've read her wrong the entire time.
Damnit, I have, haven't I?
It's the entitlement. It's the rich kid, hot guy talk at school. It somehow got into my head, even if I was sure I hated it.
I've probably been a nightmare for her to deal with. My heart races at the thought. I've been the bastard that hasn't left her alone.
Wait. My brain stops me. Wait a moment.
What about Tuesday night? Yeah, she wasn't sure about her answer to a very badly worded question of sorts, but the entire night was amazing. We flirted the entire time.
Before that, too. The ball. The library. At my house. The balcony at the gala.
And she said tonight that she was nervous around me, and then she got nervous about whatever she was going to say and seemed to prevaricate her answer. And then she tried to take back whatever bold statement she was gonna replace her past one with. Then that drunk couple killed it.
Nico excuses herself to the restroom, and Rikkard appears. "Hey."
"Hey," I greet. "How's the party been going for you? Summer?"
Rikkard glances around with a slightly distraught look on his face. "I—I told her on the ride over that I have feelings for her. She told me she liked me, too, and she kissed me, but then we got here and she disappeared. I don't know what happened."
All thoughts of telling Rikkard about my conversation with Nico die. "What? Do you think she was lying? Why would she kiss you, though? Is she just nervous?"
