"Carry yourself with the confidence of a mediocre white man"
(Ali Hazelwood).|◁ II ▷|
I check on Rikkard for the last time, making sure he looks comfortable since he's dead asleep. I pocket his pain pills, leaving one by his bed with a glass of water from the kitchen.
I can't imagine the pain he's in. Physically and mentally. He doesn't deserve any of it, even if he made a bad decision to ride drunk.
I just hope it wasn't reckless because he was done with himself and his life. I hope it wasn't reckless because he wasn't thinking clearly.
I'll have to talk with him about therapy. He needs it, but he hasn't let us pay for it and he hasn't been able to pay for it himself.
His dad doesn't dictate his life anymore, though. He could get a job if he's still dead set on not letting us pay, but he really needs to focus on school.
I'll convince him tomorrow.
I set the pills in my bathroom and head downstairs.
"Nico, I am so sorry about the wait," I call as I run briskly down the stairs. "West is gonna have my head once I—"
She's asleep.
I walk closer, prepared to wake her, but I see her in my jacket, all snuggled into the couch, and I just can't. She looks too peaceful.
I can't wake her.
I carefully slide my arms under her body and lift her, holding her body close to mine. I start walking to the front door, but she snuggles into me, and I realize I don't have any hands to open the door with or to get my car door open with.
I'll just text or call West.
I carry her up the stairs to my room, gently laying her under the covers. I stare at her for a minute. Should she sleep in a dress like that? It's too weird for me to take it off, though.
I pull a hoodie and sweatpants from my drawers and set them on the bed beside her as I gently take my jacket off her. I pull the hoodie on her and pull the sweatpants on her, keeping my eyes closed and fingers off her as I slide the pants under the dress.
I lean back. She looks cozy. And absolutely adorable swallowed in my clothes.
Would she be mad if I took the dress off?
I decide she'd rather be comfortable and that she'll trust me when I tell her I put my clothes on her with my eyes closed before I took her dress off.
