"I don't like it, at all" I shouted while throwing my things down at pg.
"Akka what's the matter, calm down please" asked Sanvi, while Brahmi just then returned from bathroom freshened up. Her concern showed no words and she sat down near my knees. I told the whole matter what happened.
"Akka please don't be sad, maybe you were too harsh, Karthik doesn't have any mistake as of now what your explaination was" she said
"Brahmi, why does the girl need not have time to process all the things, you don't know.... I didn't even got the transfer to Delhi, and he is already asking me for engagement" I said rubbing my eyes
"Akka, see he only told that he will try to shift his branch from Bangalore to Delhi for you to not have any cause, and you are ....just agree for Engagement akka, he is very nice guy it seems" said Sanvi
I just get a call from Nanna
"Vennu, Karthik gurinchi inka mee engagement gurinchi em alochinchavu (Vennela, what did you thought about yours and Karthik engagement)" Nanna asked me
"Nanna I don't think he is correct person Nanna, he is very angry and fast , impatient person" I said and cut the call.
"Akka, why did you say like that akka, we leave our matter that we have alla tappa boyfriends whom we both can revenge give guarantee that we will marry in future but Karthik doesn't seems like that and plus your age is perfect for a marriage" said Brahmi
"Akka, why don't you settle the matter with Karthik only, you told your opinion he just gave prior solution if anything like that would happen, how could you say that you will block him" said Sanvi
Then after a 10 minutes of talks between 3 of us, I get a call from Ani.
"Penta dana, buddundaa neeku (stupid clumsy girl, do you have brain?)" he shouted
"Ani calm down, before you shout on me. He is not good, he doesn't have patience" I said and waited for his reply
"Adi patience kadu Chitti pressure, he was asked to ask you about engagement date, what if you would not feel good with us to share and you would be happy to share with Karthik was what I thought, but turns out that you dipped him down"(that's not patience Chitti it's pressure) he said. I was numb for a moment.
"Chitti he was so obedient that he asked our permission , ninnu valla intiki tesukoni veltanannadu, Kani ekkada nuvvu comfortable ga undavemo Ani nenu oddannanu, nijaniki you don't like him only kada (he wanted you to be with him before marriage as the pg expanses would be more, but where your comfort is in stake I only told him no, but in reality you don't like him only right?!)" said Ani.
"Are you telling truth to me?" I asked
"Did I ever lie you till now" he said in reverse
"No" I said
"Then, tell me what kind of guy you want? A guy who drinks beer like me, a guy who smokes secretly like dad, or a guy who doesn't even care your existence like .... Leave it" he was about to say the person's name whom I never wanted to listen again, but again he hurt me.
"Who's name you wanted to take? Was it Akshay? Tell me" I asked him even though it was hurting to me.
"Yes just, you will die for no reason if you keep on reminding him Vennela, Karthik doesn't have any past, he is so calm and composed, he is enthusiastic like as if it is an occasion everyday in our house." He said
"Anirudh I am done Ra, I don't want to marry anyone for now, just don't disturb me with those things anymore" I said
"Vennela your Atta and Mavayya are waiting for you to get your right leg enter their auspicious house. You are charm to them is what they said to Nanna just a few minutes ago, they called him and asked him about your decision on engagement. Karthik's mobile was out of coverage" said Ani
"What, what are you talking about? Out of coverage area?" I asked in tension
"Yes, that's why Nanna wanted to ask first about your decision and ask about Karthik, but before anything you put down his phone right, he asked me to call and talk with you" said Ani.
"Ani, Anayya I need to, I need to search him" I said and went out of our pg immediately. I had only one photo of Karthik. I rushed to hotel where we left. He said he was out after I was after paying the bill. I neither had his 4 friends contacts also to ask them.
I started to ask random beggars over there showing his photo that where he went who were on the footpath outside the hotel. They pointed me toward the cab.
"I need to check the cctv footage from last 2 hours" I said
"Sorry Mam, we are not willing to show it anyone random" he said
"Come on, it's the matter related to me life, please Anna help me" I said with teary eyes,
"Okay tanghe (sister in Kannada)" he said. I sat on the beside chair and saw Karthik wiping his eyes and entering the entrance.
"Anna stop it stop, zoom cey (zoom it)" I said
"Yes this person" I said
"This man came round 40 mins ago, I shall call the driver, please tell me the car number" he said
"It's KA 06 AM 2247" I said
"Ramesha, where are you? You are at outskirts of city, why? Oh ....ohhho.... Sariyaa (oh oh okay)" he said
"What happened, where is Karthik" I shouted
"Thange, bava outskirts hovaralayade hodaru (sister, he went outskits of the city)" he said
"Current location Anna" I asked him
"Yes he shared his location where he dropped Karthik, I will arrange a cab for you" he said, my mind felt a little relieved after knowing that he was outskirts of the city. But still, other half was very frightened to see him after telling him that I am blocking him. The journey was taking forever to reach his location.
"Madam" I got a hand by somebody calling me.
"Haaan" I woke up with a jerk.
"Location.... Reached" he said
"What's the total amount" I asked him and I could see Karthik holding his hands and sitting at the end of the mountain.
"Karthik" I called him.
"Karthik" I again called him
" I agree you have every right to be angry on me, I am sorry, but please don't act like this coming out of city, having mobile in out of signal, please it's really worrying" I said
"Oh really ?" He asked me turning towards me and putting his hands on my shoulder
"Nanna told me that he was trying to reach you but you weren't answering him" I said
"So uncle told you then you cared to respond, and no no no...... I am wrong, you don't have feeling right? Why is it bothering you? Why are you bothered for me?" He asked me again turning towards the lights of city.
"Karthik don't talk like that, please" I said
"We are not even engaged, oh right we aren't even known people also, so who are you miss?" He said, hurting me
"Are you saying this to hurt me?" I asked him with teary eyes.
"Stop it, all your dramas, just lit tears when you become weak, just like all girls, weak like a stick" he said, all those same words, again and again... reminded me of Akshay.
