Summary: Logan willingly attends one of the events that his moms lead, in order to understand what it means to be homosexual. He meets someone unexpected there - with two unlikely parents accompanying him.

Virgil has two Dads in this... And the two dads are Remile of course (with a baby Gavin because I refuse to believe the more modern pictures of Gavin are actually Gavin).

Logan usually quite enjoyed attending the Stonewall Community events. He grew up attending the kids' game days every summer as his only socialisation, until the game days ended because – well, all the kids had grown into teens. It was the only exposure he got to families like his and they were from all around the local community, but unfortunately, they were outside the school district.

This time however Logan was full of nerves in the back of his mom's car. "There's no pressure to say anything Lo, you can just help us hand out drinks if you want." Mom started, giving yet another lecture about how Logan needed to come out in his own time when he was ready. He didn't know when he'd be ready though, if ever.

"Yeah, I forgot to come out to Mom until we'd been on three dates!" Mama giggled back, a hand on her wife's knuckles. They were so in love.

The event space the party was in was big, but not intimidating. There were tables near the front with takeaway pizza or homecooked goods, as well as juice, soda, and tea for drinks. Towards the back of the hall was a ball pit and two transportable soccer nets. A few kids were running around and screaming at each other happily. He took a minute to watch and see whether he recognised any children from the local first grade class, but there was no luck.

Logan's mothers were distracted with adult things that made sure the event would go to plan. This left Logan near the corner, sipping soda, wondering what his steps should be. Should he just stay in the corner the whole afternoon? Should he just rip off the band-aid at the first person he sees? Maybe he can ask his parents to help him come out to their friends? So many choices – but for now at least he was happy in the corner.

"FREE COFFEE Y'ALL!" A scream came from beside the door, startling Logan a little if he wasn't wearing his headphones. The voice came from a tall East Asian man in his forties, carrying a coffee machine and wearing a black denim jacket with a rainbow shirt, ripped black jeans, and sunglasses indoors. Beside him was a shorter man, assumingly his boyfriend or husband, who was wearing pastel overalls and holding an equally happy looking toddler. Mom and Mama seemed to recognise the couple and called them over... And then Logan realised who was stood behind the coffee obsessed man.

Virgil lived in the city with his dads since his birth, but he moved to the suburbs in seventh grade when his dads wanted to have another baby through adoption. When starting a new middle school, Virgil was quickly adopted by two overly enthusiastic classmates called Roman and Patton. In the last year Virgil's dads wanted to introduce Virgil's little brother to families like theirs so found the Community Stonewall group to join.

But Virgil did not expect to see the latest adopted child of Roman and Patton in the corner of the event space alone. Wait, was Logan LGBTQ+ then? Sure, this space was mainly for LGBTQ+ adults and their children but they welcomed all ages. Patton would freak out if it turned out Logan was into guys.

Virgil cautiously approached his school-friend and gave a small salute. "Hey Lo? Didn't expect to see you here." Logan placed his headphones off his head and nodded quietly. There was a silence for a couple of minutes until Virgil further clarified. "Why are you here, if you don't mind me asking?"

Logan's eyes widened and he looked side-to-side nervously, both boys mirrored each other and stuffed their hands in their pockets. Was he meant to come out now? He trusted Virgil enough; he was always the first in the library during lunchtimes and often stayed there for longer so the pair could relax before the rest of their day. He was the only introvert Logan knew.

"Ay dios mío! Logie-bear!" Logan's Mama screamed at the teenager as she ran over as if there was an actual emergency. Which there was not, she just wanted to be her typical sometimes overwhelming self. "Is this Patton? ¿Te gusta este niño? He looks like a good friend!" The Spanish was luckily whispered but Mama was excited.

"No, no, Mama. This is Virgil – a close friend of Patton's." Logan managed to interrupt his Mama's ramblings to clarify, Virgil seemed just confused about the whole situation. Mama was silenced for only a few seconds, looking Virgil up and down, before she screamed again.

"Wait, are you Remy and Emile's son? Oh, they keep on talking about you! Media naranja, mi amor, come meet Remy and Emile's kiddo!" Mama ran off again in the direction of her wife, letting the two teens nod at each other as if communicating that yes – they had their own chaotic extroverts at home.

It appears Virgil didn't need to frantically text the group chat after this event then. Logan was in the same situation as Virgil – having sociable gay parents and being dragged along. It was just a coincidence Virgil was bisexual... But maybe Logan would be comfortable talking about his own sexuality seeming he has LGBTQ+ parents?

"Do you want Crofters?" Logan had left the corner and was walking towards the food table, where a couple of jars of Crofters jam lay. The jam was probably dedicated to Logan, although if Roman was here all the jars would be gone already. "You didn't mention you had two dads. Are they as Patton-like as my Mama?"

"It's not something easily brought up. But yeah, you can't miss Baba and Papa away from school." Virgil said back, getting a shot of espresso from the machine his Baba stole from work as a manager at Starbucks. He pretty much raised his son with a caffeine addiction, even though Papa tried to prevent it and was so far succeeding the second time round. "They were really helpful when I had a bisexual awakening in eighth grade."

Logan almost spit his strawberry jam out of his mouth, coughing away a few berries that went down the wrong way. He had to come out now, right? They're literally on the topic on how LGBTQ+ parents can help their LGBTQ+ children. And Virgil was watching him expectantly as he was choking on his jam. There was concern in his expression though. "Are you OK Logan?" There was a quiet moment between the two introverts as their parents screamed at each other across the hall. Soon Logan got the courage to speak.

"I wanted to ask for your advice." Breathe Logan, breathe. Virgil will definitely accept adding another queer friend. He possibly won't expect that friend to have a gay awakening over another friend, but that part was going to stay deep in the shadows. The hoodie-wearer nodded cautiously and took another shot of coffee. "I'm exploring my sexuality, but I don't know where to start with it. I'm not that fond of 'jumping straight in' with full exploration."

Virgil didn't say anything but nodded again. "I'm honoured you wanted to tell me, and I get it. I'd suggest just telling Patton and Roman – and reminding them to not blabber about it – I can do it for you or help you do it yourself when we get back to school." Logan just shrugged, even that decision was too much for now. It can wait until when school starts again. "When did you start figuring out?"

"Last week." Logan stared at the wall and sipped his juice. Please don't ask for context, please don't ask for context.

Unfortunately, Virgil seemed to have the same curiosity level as Roman even though he was the only one to not read Logan's poetry book. He was paused enough to drink an entire mug of mocha (it seemed as though he hadn't taken a breath since turning on the coffee machine) before giving a curious chirp. "... How?"

Logan took a deep breath and shook his head as he looked at the floor, deciding how much he was going to reveal. He was definitely not going to do a play-by-play of his wet dream with kids around. "Just thinking about it."

No more context was asked, and the party continued, Logan did as much socialisation as he wanted before walking back home. It was enough socialisation to meet Virgil's family: his coffee obsessed Baba named Remy, his Papa Emile, and his four-year-old brother Gavin. It was a sweet family – and Logan was overjoyed to know there was another kid with gay parents in his school.
