Summary: The four teens have group chats. Many group chats. Group chats to discuss their plans are their favourite.
A bit of a shorter chapter but hopefully it's still funny.
Patton and Logan separately informed their other two friends about the first-grade wedding they were officiant and guest and then groom and groom at. The conversation on Logan's side then moved onto the 'We're Getting Logan A Boyfriend' group-chat that involved Logan, Roman and Virgil.
King-of-the-Friendship-Group ❤️ ❤️ : YOU AND PATTON BEAT V<3 AND I TO THE WEDDING ARCH ALREADY??? We should have got an invite /j.
The-Only-Sane-One: Mhm, there's totally a six-year-old in that class totally has the qualifications to verify a wedding. Should we still congratulate you L?
Logan: No you don't. He definitely didn't view the event as more than recess entertainment anyway, he hesitated for like five minutes.
The-Only-Sane-One: Nah, two things Lo. One – you know time estimation isn't your strong suit. It was most likely two seconds of silence. Two – he could have just not wanted to freak out like Roman is doing right now, you know they're pretty much the same person.
King-of-the-Friendship-Group ❤️ ❤️ : Not true! I'm the hot one!
Logan: Falsehood.
The-Only-Sane-One: PFFFF.
The-Only-Sane-One: Are you going to tell Patton about your attraction sometime soon Lo? You've literally been teasing us for months.
Logan: I will, I will. I can't stop thinking about it. I just want it to be perfect and romantic, like yours.
The-Only-Sane-One: Ours wasn't perfect Lo. I was rejected on the spot a couple of years ago and then cockblocked by my Shushu Chao giving us spring rolls just when things started to get heated. You can't wait for perfection - you just have to let it happen.
King-of-the-Friendship-Group ❤️ ❤️ : (I will refrain mentioning that Virgil told me prior to the spring roll incident that he wanted to take it slow, because he is making a really valid point)
King-of-the-Friendship-Group ❤️ ❤️ : BUT – There is a really romantic moment coming up that I know Patton has been romanticising since fifth grade. I won't spoil too much though.
The-Only-Sane-One: You're acting like I don't know you're going to ask me to Prom. And that the promposal will either be a replica of the one from High School Musical or one of the many from Prom Pact – I'd say the Ghostbusters one.
King-of-the-Friendship-Group ❤️ ❤️ : Ssshh I'm not that predictable. I'm the King of Creativity!
Logan: No way am I doing a public romantic display of affection like that when I'm not sure if Patton even likes me back. I'll just ask him in a more casual way closer to the time.
Virgil left the conversation at that; he couldn't even imagine asking Roman to Prom in any way that wasn't a quick text or a whisper in the hallway. The two introverts moved the conversation onto a new film the group were going to see that weekend while Roman was multi-tasking. He had other ideas.
*******
Patton was just getting ready for bed, arranging his pillows and teddies, finishing the last page of the book he was reading. He was determined to re-read all the Sherlock Holmes books, just to get a taste of Logan's infectious curiosity when he was at home.
King-of-the-Friendship-Group ❤️ ❤️ : Paaaaaaaaaat????????
Marshmallow-Personified 🌈 : Yeeeeeeeees?????????
King-of-the-Friendship-Group ❤️ ❤️ : So you know Prom's coming up?
Marshmallow-Personified 🌈 : Oh yes, and btw my Dad has said yes to you borrowing his old Ghostbusters costume 😊
King-of-the-Friendship-Group ❤️ ❤️ : Cool cool buuuut – do you know who you're going to ask to Prom?
Marshmallow-Personified 🌈 : 🙄 You know who I really want to go with.
King-of-the-Friendship-Group ❤️ ❤️ : So why don't you ask him?
Patton was a mess of red cheeks, stuffed in his bedsheets and imagining asking Logan to Prom. He could visualise the nerd's cheeks start to pinken and his fingers start to stim – but he couldn't imagine Logan saying yes. Prom had loud music, crowds, and chaotic kids... All things Logan would rather stay away from if he had the chance.
Marshmallow-Personified 🌈 : I don't want to pressure him to go, or overwhelm him by asking him. If I know he's going I might ask but I'm also happy just going as friends!
Roman was also laid in bed, on his side, in full matchmaker mode with his friends. Virgil and Logan had moved their conversation about the latest Star Wars film into the group chat with all four of them, Patton reading along without saying anything. Not like he could say anything on the topic though – Star Wars wasn't his thing. Roman only knew a lot about it because of his boyfriend and that it was a Disney thing.
King-of-the-Friendship-Group ❤️ ❤️ : Hey Lo? Are you planning on going to the Prom with us?
Patton's eyes widened as he saw what Roman put in the group chat, and he unleashed himself from his cocoon to wait for the answer. He watched as Logan started typing, then stopped, then started again. No-one else in the group chat spoke.
Logan: I'll try. I might need to leave early but I'll definitely dress up and arrive.
Patton giggled and hearted the message Logan sent. Now he could imagine Logan smiling under the artificial lights, swaying to the music together, whispering kind words to each other. Patton could imagine the echo of hearing Logan say 'I love you' into his ear, and he shut his eyes, ready to fall into the dream world he was creating.
