Summary: Logan, Patton, Roman and Virgil are told to think about their future. And Logan does - just in a way no-one (including him) suspects.
TW - Wet dream. Yes it's that kind of chapter.
"And the Christmas break of junior year is the perfect time to consider college choices if you haven't already." It was the last day before Christmas break and all the juniors were stuffed into the auditorium to listen to the principal drag on about college choices. Remus and Janus had warned this gathering was the first of many dull speeches about the same thing until they graduated.
Logan found the boring dribble peaceful to listen to. Lessons were unpredictable, with too many tasks and things to do and too much noise. The auditorium was quieter, people only mumbled. Unfortunately though - there were some mumbles next to him directed at him.
"You thinking about college Calculator Watch?" Roman rasped at him. It felt weird that Logan had a friendship group now - but they were amazing friends. They all ate in the library together and they could put up with Logan's habits and traits. It was nice.
"Probably. I'm eligible for a few scholarships and it opens doors." Logan whispered back, cleaning his glasses as he heard more whispers around him from his friends.
"You probably know your major already, right Sherlock? I mean you seem so prepared for college you're practically ready to graduate next month." Virgil leaned over Roman to ask, but was soon interrupted by Patton scream-whispering louder.
"Maybe you should go into teaching! You're so good with the kiddos!" Patton was obsessed with encouraging Logan to be a teacher, he was amazing with the first graders (even though he was denying it). As Logan placed his glasses back on, he turned to Patton to reiterate the truth - Patton's face was lit up by one of the auditorium lights and his eyes twinkled. He had such an infectious smile.
"I'll probably major in Literature, or Creative Writing, or something similar. That bit is up in the air. But I'm definitely not natural around kids." Patton was good with kids, they were always shouting and happy whenever they saw Mr Baker. Mr Croft was just there to help with schoolwork if needed - he didn't bring much overwhelming joy. "I'll be able to prove it when we get observation grades back for Education Placement. I bet you'll beat me Patton."
All three friends looked unconvinced at that. "You literally get As in everything Egghead. It'll be a hard bet to beat."
An unusual dynamic of this friendship group was that they bet over everything. Literally anything. Would the cafeteria be out of pizza slices by the time Patton gets to the lunch-line? Can Roman convince the new cheerleader he's a part of the basketball team if he steals the varsity jacket? Will Virgil be listening to Twenty One Pilots on his walk to school for the fourth time this week? Anything that had two or more possibilities could be bet on - and the bet was always for the same amount, Logan was doubtful the note ever got spent. "$10." Logan uttered back in a smile, and with that Roman high-fived Patton in his place.
*******
Christmas break was a dream for Logan. There was no pressure from his moms to work or function so he only managed each day what he could, and he could catch up on sleep was plenty of naps and sleeping in late if he was having a bad day.
Sometimes dreams surrounded Logan spending time with his friends - a nice new welcome compared to the chaotic vegetable musicals of times before. In this particular dream Logan was waiting by his locker at the start of the school for Patton. Why wasn't anyone else involved in this dream? Interesting plot choice.
There wasn't anyone else in the hallway for that matter. It was just Logan, leaning his back against his locker, until Patton came into view through the front doors of the school.
"Hi Logie." Patton said, not in his usual hyper and excited voice, in fact in a little lower register - but still relatively chirpy. He was wearing one of his pun-themed t-shirts he wore during the visits to the elementary school and his usual brown khaki shorts, the kids loved the shirt, and the shorts allowed him to run after all the kids at recess. "How are you feeling today?"
Logan felt the voice in his throat about to answer until he felt an unusual sensation around his waist. He looked down to find Patton's pointer fingers and thumbs holding onto Logan's belt loops, creating a surprisingly intimate moment that didn't panic him. It in fact made him more curious about what was to come.
Instead of answering straight away, dream Logan reached out a hand and held Patton's waist, touching and caressing his thumb over the t-shirt. It was such a soft material; Logan was really fond of the feeling. It was making him warm everywhere... Even places he'd rather not think about.
"I'm good... Now you're here." Logan's left hand was slowly moving from Patton's waist downwards, his fingers smoothing down Patton's khakis, as slow as clouds on a summer's day. Why was this making him feel like this? He was meant to feel this way around a woman, although he had hypothesised that he was asexual for a while. And while there was nothing wrong with having intimate feelings about the same sex - it was unexpected.
Patton glanced up at Logan with those baby blue eyes and that broke Logan's mind completely. Fuck. This felt amazing. All he could think about was how much he wanted to see what would happen in this dream zone. Dream Logan was taking things a little slower though, he lifted Patton's chin with his right hand, grabbing with his left hand and leaning forwards to meet lips to lips and finally ki-...
BEEP. BEEP. BEEP.
Fuck, why did Logan even set an alarm? It's not like he was going to leave the house anytime soon. Once the alarm was off Logan was left awake, hidden under the covers, and contemplating his entire existence. He was gay? Maybe it was a fluke, his brain just firing some unusual neurones to mess with him. It's not like there were any consequences to that dream, he'll just carry on with his day and forget about it by the time school starts again.
Until he realised... He felt wetness around his legs. That was the worst thing that could happen! He was going to have to clean this - how could he even explain this to his moms? He literally did laundry yesterday!
Without much thought Logan changed into clean pyjamas and stripped his bed. It was 8am, could he go downstairs to the washing machine? He really didn't want to encounter either of his moms when he was dealing with this. Especially Mama - Logan loved Mama but she was a handful during big milestones. Was having a wet dream a milestone? He prayed it wasn't sentimental enough to put into the milestone diary.
OK, Logan's thoughts were not gathered enough to risk laundry without a breakdown. First was a shower to gather his thoughts - a cold one should help with the situation he was feeling right now.
