Summary: Roman comes to rescue his boyfriend, a phrase on his lips, and less than savoury thoughts in his head.

TW - Talk about *spicy* activities. These guys are teenagers after all XD.

It was also my birthday yesterday woo (I played Taylor Swift '22' all day)

Virgil could hear the owls hoot as his brain separated himself from the slow dance incident, the words 'I love you' laced on his lips but they felt like poison now. Why didn't Roman want to say it? Was this all too good to be true?

He was distracted by his thoughts again by shuffling beside him and a dark figure sitting next to him. Part of him wished it was Roman – but he knew it wasn't – the figure wasn't wearing the red cape-like trail that Roman was dancing with. He was thankful to have someone though. "Hey... God I'm tired." Logan laughed softly, waiting for Virgil to nod. They both stared ahead towards the darkness of the bleacher seats. "Do you want to – converse over what happened there?"

Tears came to Virgil's eyes again, so he stared up to stop them falling. "I don't think Roman loves me."

Logan laughed again, although seemed to immediately regret sounding harsh. "Falsehood, Verge, the biggest falsehood in the... But why are you feeling that way? Did he say something on the dancefloor?"

"It's more like he didn't say anything. He does all these other romantic things, but it seems impossible for him to just say 'I love you'." There was no use hiding the tears now, and he took the handkerchief that Logan got out of his waistcoat. "Thanks. What about you and Pat? Was it just too much in there?" Virgil was watching Logan while wiping his eyes, seeing Logan shrug and lay his chin on his knee.

"We almost kissed, I think." Virgil cheered through the tears and elbowed Logan, only getting a half-smile back. "He just looked up at me and I so, so wanted to do it. But I can't now."

Virgil playfully scoffed and elbowed his best friend again. "You can run in there and give it another attempt now. Patton's definitely going to be looking for us in order to rectify his missing kiss." Logan just shrugged, bringing the pair into silence again, listening to the boom of the Prom music from the distance they were at. Virgil's glance looked lost and forlorn for a moment. "Maybe Roman will come and check on me too."

"Have you told Roman you love him?"

Virgil's eyes widened and he fiddled with his fingers. "No... I want to, but he's the one that starts the romantic things. I'm honestly scared to tell him how much he really means to me." And Virgil was crying again, great, at least the handkerchief was getting used to its full extent, even if it was just dotting under the eyes at this point. "Especially if he doesn't feel the same way yet."

"He does." Virgil liked having someone as nervous as him to share his anxious thoughts with. He felt better now someone was next to him. But amongst the silence Virgil heard a voice he was excited to hear, shouting his name in a worried tone.

"Virgil! Where are you Hot Topic?"

Logan stood to leave the boyfriends alone (once Roman would find his boyfriend... He was very bad at hide-and-seek). As he gave Roman a hint as to the whereabouts of his boyfriend he recognised a silhouette in blue on top of the bleachers, nervously smiling at him. He hurried his way up with shaking hands.

"Logan? Do you want to - talk?"

*******

Roman softly smiled when he spotted Virgil under a leg of the bleachers, staring up at him with a small smile. "Hey JD, did that chat with Lo make you feel better?" Virgil nodded and as Roman sat next to him, and he leant his head on his shoulder. "Should I call your Dads to take you home?"

"I love you." Those three words were said so softly, yet so earnestly, that it caused a rock to develop in Roman's throat. He wasn't expecting those words to be said in this moment, but he was so glad it was happening. Virgil loved him! It made Roman feel like he was winning an Oscar. Virgil reached for his boyfriend's hand and clutched it, saying those precious words again. "I actually, really love you."

"I love you too." Roman leant down and kissed Virgil's lips with all the love he had been hiding for months, allowing the kiss to develop deeper and more intimate than kisses had ever before. And Virgil was accepting it, tugging Roman's hair and stroking his jaw as Roman hovered over him and trapped him between his arms. Roman's hands started tugging on Virgil's shirt... OK, maybe this kiss contained more than love. There was some desire too. "I love you. So much, I kind of want to..." Roman met Virgil's eyes. There was an innocent look in his eyes that watched perfectly with a knowing smirk.

"Sleepover tonight?" The innocent chirp was laced with another look, tracing Roman's body up and down, that made his thoughts go wild. "I don't want to catch anything doing it here."

Roman nodded in a way that was obviously trying to remove all the dirty thoughts from his brain as he sat down again and caught his breath. Eventually he noticed the music from the Prom starting yet another slow song. This one – a song from High School Musical – 'Can I have this dance?'.

Virgil stood and dragged Roman away from the bleachers, under the beautiful shining stars showing thousands of intricate constellations telling tales of centuries' love stories. "Remember our promise?" He whispered, placing his arms on Roman's shoulders and making his black eyes shine in the darkness. Roman really loved this man so much.

Roman's kiss lead him and Virgil into a slow waltz, Roman singing the lyrics he had memorised into Virgil's ear. Innocent pecks of kisses littered Roman's neck – reminding him of what was to come. But for now, they were under the moonlight, listening to the music metres away from them and having a private moment just the two of them. They hoped Patton and Logan were also having private moments but for now they didn't care. The stars were the only witnesses to this moment. Now they had each other, and that's all they needed to let their relationship blossom.

"I want this to be our wedding dance." Virgil smiled, enjoying the sensation of Roman's arms around him, holding him still and close. Roman nodded, an arm leaving Virgil's waist to brush through his hair as he hummed in Virgil's ear. It was a shame Prom didn't last forever – he didn't want this dance to ever end. "I love you, don't know if you heard that already."

"I love you too – and I don't want you to ever forget it."
