Chase gazed out at the bright stars over Adventure Bay. The serene blue water calmly surged below, and the nocturnal animal life began its melodic songs. Skye noticed his thoughtful expression and wondered what was on his mind, hoping it wasn't bad news.
Chase: "You know, Skye, I remember the day we met. It was right here, on this observation deck."
Skye: "Hehe. Don't remind me."
Chase smiled, a nostalgic glint in his eyes.
Chase: "That day was unforgettable. It was your first time flying ever."
Skye giggled and leaned over the railing, lost in the memory.
Skye: "Hehe, I know. I jumped off right here and tried to use the jets in my pup pack."
Chase: "And you weren't successful at first, hehe."
Skye playfully rolled her eyes.
Skye: "Stop. Hehe. I know. It was terrifying when I started falling."
Chase: "But you pulled through it, didn't you?"
Skye: "I definitely did. It was still scary, though. But why are you bringing that up?"
Chase turned to face Skye fully, his eyes softening as he gently took her paws in his. Sitting upright, he began to speak in a tone Skye had never heard before—soft and velvety, soothing her instantly.
Chase: "That day, Skye... I saw my future love. At the time, I didn't realize it, but my heart did. Seeing you flying reminded me of where I came from—a small pup, lost in a big city, who had to overcome his fears. But I never fully did... until I met you. Your sparkly eyes, your gorgeous looks, hehe, and your perfect personality. I know I'm kind of rambling, but I'm just in awe of how lucky I am to have met such an amazing pup. All my life, I've never truly felt loved. But with you, I do. And I just wanted to say... I love you. I feel like we should make this complete."
Skye's eyes filled with tears as she listened. She gently squeezed his paws, her voice trembling with emotion.
Skye: "I'm speechless, Chase. I feel the exact same way. Ever since I saw you on this observation deck, I've felt such a strong connection to you. I don't want it to end. I don't want to lose the pup I... love. I want to be with you, now and forever. I share your dream of raising a family, too, and I only see it with you. You've done so much, Chase. sniffles This is just so emotional. Hehe. clears throat Yes, I want to be with you, now and forever."
Tears welled up in Chase's eyes as he smiled at her. He gently wiped away Skye's tears with his paw.
Chase: "Look at me, hehe. My eyes are getting watery, too."
Skye giggled through her tears.
Skye: "I never took my future partner to be such a softie, hehe."
Chase: "Hehe. Well, you learn something new every day."
Overwhelmed with happiness, Skye began crying again, unable to stop.
Skye: "I can't stop crying! Hehe. I'm sorry!"
Chase gently turned her face toward him with his paw.
Chase: "I think I know how to stop it."
He leaned in and kissed her. Skye froze, her world pausing as a warm sensation washed over her. The euphoria of their first kiss consumed them both, their hearts beating as one. When Chase pulled away, they stared into each other's eyes, their faces radiating peace and happiness.
Chase: "Uh... hehe. How was that?"
Skye: "Perfect."
Skye kissed him again, this time holding it longer. They were fully immersed in the moment when the hum of the observation deck elevator jolted them back to reality. Startled, they quickly pulled apart, realizing Chase was on top of Skye with his paws around her. They scrambled to their feet as the elevator doors opened. To their surprise, it was Mayor Humdinger.
Chase: "Humdinger! What are you doing here? It's 10 o'clock at night!"
Mayor Humdinger: "I should be asking you the same thing! But I guess everyone has trouble sleeping sometimes. I came to find Ryder. I needed to tell him that the Ruff Ruff Pack is being released from obedience school tomorrow. They specifically requested the Paw Patrol."
Chase and Skye exchanged confused glances.
Skye: "But, Mayor Humdinger, we were told they wouldn't be out for another month. What happened?"
Mayor Humdinger: "Foggy Bottom law allows for early release if the pups show good behavior. They've proven they've changed their ways—or so the school says."
Chase: "And you expect us to believe that?"
Mayor Humdinger: "Believe what you want, but I'm just the messenger. Anyway, you all seem like you could use a break after that Orion ordeal. Goodnight!"
Grumbling, Humdinger stepped back into the elevator. Chase sighed and turned to Skye.
Chase: "We'll find out tomorrow if he's telling the truth. But for now, let's get some sleep."
Skye: "Good idea. Let's go, Chasey."
Chase smiled at the nickname, savoring it as they headed to bed. He tucked Skye in and kissed her forehead gently.
Chase: "Goodnight, Skye."
Skye: "Goodnight, Chase... I love you."
Chase: "I love you, too."
With that, Chase settled into his own bed, a contented smile on his face. He had never felt so happy, so complete.
