Chapter TWENTYTWO

Emmett pulled into the driveway and turned off the car. I sighed and took off my seatbelt but made no effort to actually get out of the car.

" You need to sleep Madeleine " Emmett said in a sweet voice and took my warm hand in his cold.

" I know " I said but still didn't move.

" Will you join me tonight as well? " I asked hopefully.

" I can't , I'm going out hunting with Edward and Jasper " He said and looked at me sadly.

" Oh " I said.

" But I'll see you on Monday, I'll drive you to school " He said and smiled.

" I don't think that's a good idea " I said.

" Why? " He asked.

" They would see us " I said in a small voice.

" They? Are you ashamed to be in a relationship with me? " He said and his face turned sad.

" My friends "

" No I'm not ashamed "

" Then why are you hesitating? "

" Don't you love me? " He asked and looked even sadder.

" I love you " I said pleadingly.

" Oh really "

" I've never loved anyone like this before, I'm ready to give up everything for you, to be with you "

" I want my parents to know before anyone else, I want to be the one to tell them "

" Would your friends go behind your back and tell your parents? " Emmett asked and grasped my hands.

" Yes, they would. "

" Why? "

" Because they care about their reputation more than anything "

" And dating people they themselves haven't approved would in their mind ruin everything for them "

" That's messed up, real friends wouldn't do that " Emmett said.

" I know " I answered back. After that conversation silence washed over us.

" I would give up everything for you too, The only thing I want in this world is you " Emmett said and reached up to caress my cheek.

" I love you Madeleine Aurora James " He said and reached over to kiss me. As the one we had before, this one was the same, short but sweet and the best ones ever.

" Now please go inside and sleep, you really need it! I will text you tomorrow " He said. We both jumped out of the car and I walked up to the door and unlocked it. I turned around to look at Emmett.

" Good night Emmett " I said and he waved and smiled at me before turning around and walking away.

I walked inside and locked the door and walked upstairs and changed into my pyjamas. I also removed my makeup and brushed my teeth before jumping in bed cuddling the pillow Emmett had used before. I fell asleep to the sound of rain falling down the pavement.
