The last bell rang and everyone hurried outside to go home but me. I walked as slowly as I could, I didn't wanna go home. As I was halfway through the school my phone vibrated so I picked it up and looked at what it was, it was a text." Hey Maddie, how are you? - Paul "
I smiled slightly, Paul was checking in on me. That's very sweet of him, I quickly texted him back that I was okay and asked how he was doing. I put my phone away and walked outside where my mother's car were parked. I jumped inside the car but didn't bother to greet her, I was still disappointed with her. And I could tell she knew that I wasn't going to budge, so she didn't say anything to me.
She dropped me off outside of the place I practiced my ballet. I walked inside with the bag that my grandma had packed with my ballet stuff. I changed clothes and started to put on my pointe shoes. As I was wrapping the ribbon my ballet teacher walked inside the room and beckoned us to get in the starting position.
I practiced ballet for three hours before the teacher was satisfied and let us go. I changed back into the clothes I was wearing before, all the others had already left. I wasn't close with anyone on my ballet team, they didn't live up to the standards of my grandma apparently. She had come to some ballet practices a while ago and after she had expressed her displeasure on the other dancers for days after.
I was pulling on my heels when I heard the door open, I figured it was my mother who was wondering why I was taking so long so I didn't look. I stood up and grabbed my backpack and turned towards the door where Emmett stood.
" Emmett? What are you doing here? " I said with a nervous laugh.
" I needed to see my girl " He said and picked me up and hugged me.
" I saw you last night " I said and wrapped my arms around him.
" Yeah, but every second I'm not with you is hurting me " He said and caressed my head.
" Your mother is here " He said and put me down on the floor again.
" I love you " He said and smiled and the next second he disappeared from my vision. I sighed and grabbed my bag and walked outside.
When we pulled up onto the driveway at home, I jumped out of the car quickly and walked inside. Grandma stood right inside of the door waiting for me. She reached out her hand and I put my phone in it. She walked towards the couch and sat down, then she started to go through with it. I put the bag down and walked a bit into the living room waiting for her verdict.
" You're still friends With Paul? " She asked after a few minutes.
" Yes " I answered.
" I get that he was your first friend but he's not good for you " She said and put my phone in a drawer and locked it. She tucked the key into the pocket of her dress before pushing me towards the kitchen. Where I was subjected to yet another awful teaching of how to cook.
The food was done and I was delighted that I was allowed to eat. But grandma placed food on my plate and I quickly got disappointed with how little food she was giving me. She was still going on about the fact I had gained weight. It made me feel bad as I hadn't thought how my body looked was a problem but I guess I was wrong.
I couldn't wait until I could go up to the safety of my room. And get some peace and quiet.
