Chapter TWENTYSIX

The day at school ended faster than I had hoped. My anxiety was through the roof, I don't know if Jasper could feel it but he had been staring at me the entire day with pain and pity in his eyes. We all walked together towards our cars but our walk was cut short by Lauren's voice.

" Madeleine " She yelled out and I stopped. Emmett stopped as well while the other continued to walk to their cars, but they stopped when they arrived and turned to look at us. They looked at us almost protectively as if they were ready to butt in incase something went wrong.

" It's okay Emmett, I've got this " I said and gestured for him to join his family.

" Okay " He said and kissed my cheek before venturing over to his family.

" Hey Lauren " I said uncomfortably.

" What the hell is wrong with you? " She asked angrily.

" You're ruining our reputation by being with the freaks " She continued.

" They're not freaks " I said almost getting angry.

" And you would know all about that wouldn't you? " She said sarcastically.

" Are you done now? " I asked ready to leave this situation.

" No we're not done! "

" Either you break up whatever it is that you have with the freaks or you're no longer part of us " She said getting angrier by the second.

" I guess we're not friends anymore then, but then again I don't think we ever were " I said and turned around and walked away from her.

" You're going to regret this Madeleine " She screamed.

I arrived at my car and Rosalie groaned loudly.

" Seriously what's wrong with that girl? " Edward asked.

" Apparently everything " Rosalie answered.

" Don't let her talk to you that way " Rosalie said to me before getting in her car with the rest of her family. Bella drove away after she and Edward had said goodbye so the only ones left were me and Emmett.

He came closer to me and rubbed my arms.

" I know there's something else on your mind " Emmett said carefully.

" I've fucked up " I said with tears threatening to come out.

" I said something to my grandma that will make things very bad "

" And I'm planning to make things worse tonight, I'm going to tell them about you. And after that I can't promise that we will get to see each other for a while " I said finally letting go.

" What do you mean? " He asked and stepped closer.

" My grandma can get really dramatic and nobody dares to say anything " I answered

" But I love you " I said and bent up to kiss him lightly on the lips.
