Chapter THIRTYNINE

I heard a weird beeping sound in my room. What was that? Had my family put something in my room that made sounds? It was I going crazy? Was I dreaming?

I struggled to open my eyes, I tried but it didn't work.

" Emmett " I muttered out, hoping he was here.

" I'm here my love " I heard his voice in the distance and soon I felt his cold hand on my face.

I was finally able to open my eyes and I was met by the only face I wanted to see.

" What's going on? " I asked calmly, knowing he would tell me.

" You're in the hospital, you were injured! James hurt you. I'm so sorry! I should have been with you! " He said and his sad face broke my heart. I grabbed his hand from my face and kissed it.

" It's not your fault. It was a decision I made. You saved me! " I answered back and looking into his now dark eyes.

" I almost killed you " He muttered and looked away from my face.

" No you saved me! And I know what you did was difficult for you but you did it! You saved me, I wouldn't be alive if it weren't for you " I said hoping he would understand.

" I can't lose you. I love you so much " He said in such a sad voice.

" You won't! I love you so much too! " I answered back.

We looked at each other in silence for a while before he broke the silence.

" Your family was here "

" And they didn't stay. It's okay, that's normal " I said and smiled slightly.

" It's not okay Madeleine! " He exclaimed bewildered.

" It's not the first time. I had to have my appendix removed when I was 9, I was all alone. And when I broke my arm when I was 15 and had to have surgery on it I was also alone. It's nothing I can't take " I explained.

" You're not alone now " He said and kissed me.

" No I have the man I love with me "

" you're never going to be alone again " He said and kissed my cheek.
