ACT 0: Chapter 1 - The Ring's Endless Loop

This fanfiction and the story itself had made everyone age up by one or two depending on everyone's interpretation, which meant that all the underages characters were older than they were in the original story. So it is not a stretch to say that Vertin was in her late teenage or early adult years. However, it is up to reader to determine their age.

It was 23:59. December 31, 1999. Out of the gap between the two centuries, a "Storm" poured upwards to the sky. The next second, all the parties, neon signs, and late-night buses faded away. The world returned to a strange old era...

This is what the Timekeeper discovered about this event. At the stroke of midnight on New Year's Eve, the time when the storm began. All over the world, time became uncertain as the clocks ticked backwards or stalled completely. The storm is a mystical and powerful phenomenon. When this occurs, the storm can cause the time to move backwards or to halt completely, leading to a mixture of time periods and a distortion of reality. From pre-historic times to ancient civilizations, in the blink of an eye.

We don't know why this happened, but we know it shouldn't have...

This may sound like an odd tale... when the first drop of rain reached the sky, bizarre changes would happen to people. From pop art and the bold colours in the 60s to the platinum and jazz in the 20s ... The characteristics of time kept changing, as did the corresponding syndrome in people. These changes were like an illusion, or the mirage of their time. 

This phenomenon is known as the Storm Syndrome. In some cases, the Storm can cause people to temporarily or permanently lose their sense of self, while in other cases, they may trigger memories from previous eras.

Every era has its own symbolic city. For the 60s, it was London; while for the 20s, everyone would agree it was New York. At that time in the Big Apple, more and more things were made possible through modern science. Ford Motor and radio broadcasts spread the positive attitude to an even larger range. Jazz music played all night, and the people were either dancing at the Charleston or on the way to the next party. No one could say no to this carnival.

 
But the question still remains... unclear... unexplored... why?

Many theories have been proposed as to why the Storms occur. Some believe it is a natural phenomenon that occurs due to the balance of the universe, while others believe it is a result of human action. There's also speculation that the Storms are caused by a higher power or mysterious entity. As of yet, no one has been able to provide a definitive answer to the question "Why the storm?". Its exact origin and purposes are still a mystery, but it has been linked to the manipulation of time. it is believed that the storm is caused by a disruption in the space-time continuum and a resulting break in the natural flow of time.
