Previously, on the Reverse 1999, Chapter 1:
  
   
    
"Tear gas is here!" The Safety Supervisors let the Principal know that the team carrying the tear gas launcher is here.
 
 
 
The principal who is standing on the platform above feels that it is finally the end of this debacle. The crowd here is still singing their song and is not backing down at all but they would soon feel the effects of the tear gas... This whole situation would soon end now and it would finally be a great relief for him now.
  
  
   
But there was this one dumb guy who somehow slipped, and in that process and unintentionally aimed his tear gas launcher towards Vertin now. That slow motion was visible to everyone and Vertin was the one in the target line now. Vertin was shocked by this and she was now expecting the gas to hit her directly at once which would immediately cause her to be affected by its effects and she would be rendered helpless in no time. It looks like she was going to receive the full hit from the gas. This was completely unexpected and would have terrible effects on her body as it would affect her eyes and also her respiratory system.
  
  
  
This would be the ultimate end now for Vertin who had been the source of this whole mess by encouraging her classmates to be themselves and express their thoughts in front of the crowd, even if it was not allowed during the entire performance. 

These actions caused her to be in this terrible situation at this very second now she is going to receive the full hit of the tear gas right at her very body. Vertin now shuts her eyes as she realizes that this was a terrible outcome and maybe her curiosity and determination to act upon her thoughts was the cause of it all...
  
  
  
It all happened in a swift movement which felt like a slow motion to the crowd here. Vertin was now pushed away by Y/N who saw her in a vulnerable state and took her spot right at the very last moment before the gas hit her,  Y/N would take the bullet for her after he took the spot which was meant for Vertin to get hit.
  
  
  
BANG!
  
 

This sound erupted when he was hit by the tear gas now, the whole crowd instantly went hush as they saw Y/N being affected instead of Vertin. Vertin sees that her classmate is the one receiving the full shot of the tear gas.   It is then that the gas hit him directly in the chest and he was the one who took the full hit. 

He was the one who got affected by the gas now and it was really a good reaction from his side to save her at this critical moment. Y/N was now the one who had to suffer the effects of the tear gas which was going straight towards his body. He was now bearing this tremendous pain and impact alone.
  
  

Everyone who was present here at this moment was literally witnessing a horrifying scene here. The whole crowd was now witnessing a scene where the student, whom the people considered to be the troublemaker and the one on whom the principal had pointed his finger, had taken the bullet for another student. The students here were absolutely shocked and in a totally horrified state after witnessing such a scene.
  
   
     
Vertin's face is frozen in fear seeing her classmate, one she considered a friend, gets hurt so severely now in this incident. She knows very well that the moment she is witnessing right now could have been her if it was not for his very quick actions which saved her life and got him hurt in the process. 

She cannot see this anymore and is in a total fear-stricken state. She couldn't believe that he took the hit for her, despite the fact that they had a few fights about his attitude, still he was such a caring and loving friend of hers.
  
  
   

"Ring! Ring!" Vertin called out his name. She really wanted to go to his side and check up on her injured friend but the thick tear gas filled the air and it was making it quite difficult for her to even walk towards him. Despite the thickness and irritation of the tear gas which is now affecting even her, she has the courage to run over and check on him.
