6/18/15 • A Note To a Friend

"Before you make any stupid rash decisions let me tell you something I've come to understand about life, this world, and the people in it. We all have people who can't stand us. We all have people who completely adore us. There are days when people are in just really bad moods and do things they don't mean. Say things they don't mean. Or they mean them but they would have conveyed them in a different way had the situation played out differently. In this world you have to see people eye to eye, walk around in their shoes and get a feel for why they act the way they do. And you just have to understand that not all promises can be kept, not all lives can be saved, an not all friendships last forever.

We are a society of broken people who make other broken people. We all have these looming problems over our shoulders and we see death as a way out. But in our moments when death seems to be the answer we forget. We forget about the people who we will harm, the people who we where supposed to cross paths with, the people who we never quite finished that last conversation with, the dreams and ambitions of the future, the friends we have that do care even if they don't show it all the time, the places we where going. We see this tunnel visioned future of nothing but sadness and pain and we don't see anything else.

We're weak in that sense. We weren't put here to take ourselves out. We didn't evolve into this great species to ultimately do natures job for her. We are here because someone else out there needs us. We where so lucky to even be born in a country where freedom is something we can take for granted and we can't even take notice of the great opportunities we have. There are going to be days when it feels like you are alone, that no one needs you or wants you, and that you could disappear and no one would care.

But the fact is everyone has someone. And we aren't meant for everyone and that's okay. We are creatures who aren't meant to be left alone, but we can be lonely in times where it is in necessity. Not everyone despises you and not everyone sees you as a problem, but you have to remember those days when you feel like you are alone, you just have to look around. You have to realize everyone needs space sometimes but they aren't gone forever. You have to remember everyone is human, everyone is weak, but everyone has the ability to be strong. And that includes you.

We all will hurt each other and make each other mad and annoy those around us but that is part of our nature. We aren't going to be desirable all the time because having flaws is human. And even when things hurt you have to remember it isn't going to last forever. You are important. You are necessary. You are appreciated. So don't let those people you have yet to meet down, don't leave those conversations hanging, don't hurt those people around you, don't let your friends lose another comrade. Because this world isn't going to always be beautiful. But that doesn't mean we can't try to make it that way."
