I had to make this head cannon because of the episode, The Last Djinn.
So basically it goes like this djinns actually get a choice to grant wishes normally or make the wishes backfire.
Humans decided to label djinns and genies as two different species when the truth is genies are just djinns who decided to grant wishes normally
