It was shown in Crystalized that Jay used to like trains a lot. Well, I think he still likes trains a lot. Here is why:
1: He knew a lot about trains in Crystalized.
2: He seemed to like trains a lot.
And that's it. I just think it makes sense for him to like trains, and that it would be interesting especially since he is very talented at engineering.
Building model trains could've built that skill.
