ME, GIDEON, MORGAN, HOTCH, JJ, SPENCER AND a lady from the local department were all sitting around the conference room where we had set up all our files
This case was about our Unsub, who was still unidentified, went around raping women, starting from teens to now older women to fulfill his fantasy of a family. And he was using files from a fertility clinic to learn more about these women. We had just come close to finding him but missed our chance
"Theres not a potential victim in the questionnaires" Hotch spoke as he paced around the room "Who knows when were gonna get another shot at him"
"Noose is tightening" Gideon added
Morgan: "You saw that stack of forms. This company handles the entire great Great Lakes region. If he thinks were close he can take off"
"And he's got a whole new list of victims in another city" I spoke, flicking through files to see any missing details
"What do you think?" Gideon asked the woman running the police force in this country
"When he started with college students, he raped one a week. Now, he has to wait for the right set of circumstances. But he wants more victims"
"Then let's give him one" Hotch said
"I'm ready for it" Elle said sitting up in her seat and immediately Hotch and Gideon looked to each other. It was something they did often, almost as if they could read each others mind
"We... we actually had someone else in mind" their attention slowly turned to me but too engrossed in the files I missed it. Though slowly the room became quiet and once I realised I looked up, seeing the attention on me
"Me?" I gulped nervously
"No way" Spencer said snapping his eyes away from me, catching my worried look
JJ: "This could be our only chance"
Me: "Hotch- I- i'm not ready for this. I get angsty talking one on one in the field- you know this"
"It has to be you Athena. You're our Unsubs type perfectly. Age, appearance wise, you're our best option"
"Gideon" Spencer said sitting forward in his chair "with all that could go wrong, we can't put Athena in a situation like this. The statistic of undercover work going south I- we can't let her do this"
"We'll all be here" Hotch assured looking between both me and Spencer. I took a deep breath
Doing this could save 100 or even 1 girl from going through what the others did. And I wouldn't be alone
