I am super weli.
"Weli" is the Urdu word denoting a female person with too much time on her hands. Reply too promptly to people's Facebook posts too often and sooner or later you'll be dubbed "weli" or something similar.
I don't mind (much), because I understand why people think this. It's because they figure I'm putting in all this Internet use along with the average amount of time the common Jamila spends in front of the television.
I do not watch TV. Not even for a second. I watch Zaid Ali T clips, Hasb e haal videos, and Nouman Ali Khan reminders, in the background while I browse Pinterest or something.
Does that make me not just super but super duper weli?
Does it even matter?
What we need is an objective yardstick to measure my weli-ness by. Something like...
I opened my Goodreads profile to get my account number to put in the widget for this blog, and it turns out I am #12 in Pakistani Goodreads users because I shelved 182 books this month.
I rest my case.
I'm cutting back on my "weli"-ness this Ramadan. No, seriously. I haven't touched my game apps at all, and that counts for something.
How "weli" (or "wela") are you? What do you do about it? Especially in Ramadan.
