Moving on, settling in

I arrived in Pakistan in one piece, alhamdulillah. The single most striking thing in the journey was a pair of aunties sitting behind us, commenting about everything under the sun in the most desi auntie-ish fashion. I remember one line of theirs, "Poor people are fat, rich people are thin." (This little factoid is backed up by the Desi Auntie Research Association. Don't dare to doubt it.)

Incidentally, the person behind Humans of New York is currently visiting Pakistan to photograph its people and document their stories. Right now he's in the mountainous northern areas of the country, photographing locals and foreigners alike. I am interested to follow his experiences through his camera lens. Search for "Humans of New York" on Facebook to check it out.

Thanks to the cloud, my documents and work in progress were in Pakistan before me. Meaning, when I came, I was able to access them as usual, as they were saved on the Internet.

You might find it interesting to know that within 10 hours of arriving, we got scratch cards for our phones, to subscribe to mobile wifi and SMS packages. Of course, for calling minutes, too, but really, I only talked to one person on the phone (not counting family) and that too was after I sent her an SMS. For the rest, long live Whatsapp.

I opened my FoodPanda app to check out the local restaurant deals for home delivery (yes, you can have any kind of food delivered to your door here) and surprisingly, nothing appealed to me. I suppose my taste buds have fallen out of the habit. No matter. If I can keep this up, I'll save on money and calories.

I have catching up with my Wattpad reading on the agenda. Really. I'll just have to settle in with my new routine and of course Wattpad will be an ingredient in the mix.

Those of you who are established on Wattpad, can apply to become a Wattpad Star writer here: https://www.wattpad.com/writers/wattpad-stars/ (Go to community, click on "writers", then on "Wattpad stars".)

How are you all, dear readers? What's the latest from your side? Established a post-Ramadan routine yet?
