The first time you had heard of Oikawa Tooru, you were in elementary school. Your brother was close with a boy of that name. They were apparently on a volleyball team together. Hajime was fairly close with him, from what he told you.Although, he complained about the boy a lot.
"He works really hard," Hajime would tell you. "But he kind of sucks."
"He sucks?" You would ask.
"He misses his tosses a lot. But he asks me to stay and work with him even more," he told you. "I'm going to his place this weekend." You nodded. Hajime was at volleyball a lot, so you and him didn't get to spend much time together these days. It was a little sad, since Hajime was—despite all of your fighting—one of your closest friends.
Oikawa eluded you for your entire elementary years. Hajime never told you which school Oikawa went to, and you didn't know what he looked like. But, once you met him, you knew you had never seen him during your childhood.
Oikawa made you curious. You didn't know all of Hajime's friends, but you wanted to meet them. You planned on going to as many of Hajime's games as you got older. Everything you had heard about Oikawa from Hajime, though possibly annoying, made him seem hard working, if not too hard working.
~*~*~
The first time you saw Oikawa in person was your second year of middle school. You, for several years had planned on going to a game. But your own personal life and hobbies would get in the way a lot. And, finally, you managed to make it in your and Hajime's second year.
You had been sitting in the cheering section for Kitagawa Daiichi. You friend, Haruko, had come to the volleyball games for the last year, so you thought you would go with her. None of your other friends cared much for sports. You knew a fair amount about the sport, since your brother was a regular in the team.
"Have you been to a volleyball game before?" Haruko asked you.
You shook your head. "Hajime has been playing since elementary school, but I've always been too busy to come to his games. I'm actually kind of excited!"
"Have you ever played, Y/n~Chan?" Haruko asked.
You shook your head. "Hajime talks about playing all the time though. I've helped him out a little in our backyard."
"Then you don't know anyone on the team," Haruko said. You narrowed your eyes. It was true, you didn't know any of your brother's team mates in person. He claimed he would introduce you after the game, but there was no way you got to meet everyone. If anyone at all. Oikawa was the person you were most curious about, but you were sure that you wouldn't be able to meet him.
"Hajime says he'll introduce me someday..." you pouted. Haruko chuckles at your face.
"Well, I'll tell you who's who when they get out here," Haruko said. "I don't know about the first years, but I can introduce the second and third years." You nodded as thanks. There was still some time before the team came out for warm ups, so the two of you just sat there talking. Several kids around you were, somehow, more excited than you and Haruko were.
You weren't looking at the court, but the cheers from everyone around you signalled the teams arrival. They walked out on to the court, several glancing up at the crowd there to cheer. Immediately, your eyes were drawn to someone walking near your brother. He wasn't taller than your brother, from what you could tell, but you couldn't be sure if he was any shorter from where you sat. He had chocolate hair that hung over light brown eyes. He was smiling at your brother. It was a cute smile.
