"So, you think something's up with them too, right?""Of course," Tsukishima replied, pulling off the other side of his headphones. "Did Nomura ask you weird questions too?"
"Yup," you said. "Didn't realise Yamaguchi had asked you anything."
Tsukishima sighed. "I'm pretty confident about what he wanted to know for, too. I just hope it doesn't get too annoying."
You sighed. "There probably won't be much avoiding it. I have a feeling they're going home to plan their next move or some shit like that."
Tsukishima scoffs. "You make it sound like they're actually strategising. Those two aren't capable of something involving that much thought."
"They'll try anyway." Somehow, you got the idea that Tsukishima had been asked mildly different questions that you had been. You decided against asking, purely so he didn't realise that Aiko thought you had a thing for him anyway.
You studied the blond's face. His gaze was forward, locked on the small road ahead of him. It's as steely as it always was, his lips pressed into a thin line in what you could only begin to call disdain. His hand raised to adjust his glasses a little. After he adjusted them, his eyes landed on you.
"What?"
You flinched a little at his question. "N—nothing."
"Staring at people is rude, you know," he said. Even though it sounded like he was being serious, the smirk on his face told you that his comment was in jest. "Besides, if you keep staring at people like that, they're going to think you're stalking them."
"I know you're just trying to piss me off," you muttered, "but that doesn't mean I can ignore something like that, Telephone Pole."
"Tele—!" His eyes widened at your nickname. You chuckled at his expression.
"Surprised that someone'll talk back to you?" You asked.
He looked away. "Not really." You smiled. "Could you not give me weird nicknames, Shortie?"
"Shortie? I'm not that much shorter than you are!"
Despite how much of an argument it may have sounded like, the atmosphere felt friendly to you. Tsukishima didn't seem to feel much different than you, because his smirk was a little closer to a genuine smile than it was before.
"You know," you said after a while of silence. Tsukishima studied you quickly before raising a brow. "We could have our own plan."
"Own plan? For what?"
"Well...to get back at them, of course," you told him.
He seemed interested in you idea, because he finally looked all the way at you. "I'm listening."
~*~*~
The next week or so progressed as it had normally, pretty much. You and Tsukishima spent a fair amount of time together, simply because Aiko and Yamaguchi decided to run off on their own. You and Tsukishima didn't really mind. It was a nice break from someone as energetic as Hinata, who still often bothered you when he had the time. Since he stayed late for practice, you walked home with Tsukishima, Yamaguchi, and Aiko.
All that being said, you could tell they had some kind of scheme brewing. Suddenly, they would have to flake on any hangouts Aiko would coordinate (the boys went along with them, just for the sake of the peace, but you knew Tsukishima didn't care much for them), which would leave you and Tsukishima on your own. They never gave the same reason, but you and Tsukishima knew what they were doing.
