While you weren't what the average person would call a "gamer", you definitely played a fair amount of games. You weren't big on first person shooters, though there were exceptions. You had a couple of different consoles, and well as a PC and DS.You had been playing games for as long as you could remember, but none of your friends were super big on the idea. Bokuto had tried to enjoy multiplayer games with you, as had Akaashi, but neither really got into them. Bokuto would throw a fit if he lost or died, which, as no shock to you or your friends, happened a lot. Akaashi, on the other hand, simply wasn't a fan on the kind of games that were multiplayer. No one else you knew even tried. So, you did what you thought was best.
You turned to the internet.
There were forums for people who played lots of games, as well as some for specific games. There were some really niche games you saw, some of which you had played. As much as you wanted to join the forums, the ones for smaller games didn't have a lot of people. So, you turned to a general forum.
It had several dozen people, which meant that you finally had people to play games with. The chat log was people talking about specific games, with the occasional person asking for someone to play with.
"Y/n!" Bokuto snapped as he walked into your room.
"Pardon the intrusion," Akaashi said.
"Bokuto~san, Akaashi~san," you said. "I almost forgot about you guys coming over to use my backyard." Normally, they would go somewhere else, but Bokuto insisted they spend some time with you.
"I thought you'd be lonely since we're going on a training camp in a few days," Bokuto said. "Plus I just want to see you, Y/n!"
You smiled. "I get it, Bokuto~san. I want to see you guys a lot too."
Akaashi walked over and glanced at your screen, chat forum still pulled up. "What's this?" He asked, making you look back at the computer.
"Oh, I was looking for people to play games with online, and then I found this forum," you told him. "I know you guys don't like to play a lot of the games a play, so I thought I could meet some new people online."
"Isn't that...a little risky?" Akaashi asked. "Meeting random people online?"
"Is it?" You replied. It wasn't like you had ever really gone looking for chat forums to be active in, and all you really wanted was someone to play games with. You thought it would mean you didn't have bother Akaashi or Bokuto, but it wasn't like Akaashi's concern was unfounded.
"It's probably fine, Akaashi!" Bokuto said, slapping a hand on Akaashi's back. "Y/n knows what she's doing!"
You didn't, but hey, you'll take support.
"Yeah, Akaashi~san! I've done this plenty of times!" You, in fact, had never done this. "It'll be okay! It's not like they're going to be my best friend or anything!"
"That's us!" Bokuto said with a hearty laugh. "Now, let's get outside! I want to practice with Akaashi!"
You nodded and grabbed your DS. Bokuto and Akaashi started towards your back yard with you at their heels. You had the forum up on your phone, staring at the small box to type into. You had headphones with you—you carried them a lot, since noisy, crowded places overwhelmed you—so you could theoretically call with someone if you wanted to.
It wasn't like you played volleyball with them anyway. You enjoyed watching your friends play games, but you were never going to be athletic enough to keep up with those monsters. Seriously, you got left behind anytime you tried. The real issue is Bokuto wanted you to be paying attention to him. He would whine if you didn't.
