3rd POV

"Uh-oh, it's seems like our Little Akutagawa still has a habit of going rogue." Dazai sarcastically stated. "How annoying."

"Whose fault is that again?" (Y/n) asked.

"It's your fault too, but this isn't about us right now. Atsushi-kun, we don't have time to deal with him right now. Let's move on."

"But he's—"

"Trust me on this. If you follow my instructions, you won't have any problems."

Atsushi agreed, taking off the device after Dazai explained the plan. "Understood."

"Hmm?" Akutagawa was puzzled by who was Atsushi talking to.

"Akutagawa... Dazai-san and (Y/n)-san have been listening in. They're on the other side of this device. They wish to speak with you." Atsushi was quick to throw the device away and made a run for it, letting Akutagawa only focus on that device instead of himself.

"What have you done?!" Akutagawa jumps off the rail and grabs it in time, using Rashoumon to grab the wall so he doesn't fall to his death, he placed the device near his ear and used the microphone to speak. "Are you there?!"

"I'm sorry, Akutagawa-kun..." (Y/n) apologized before hanging up on him, feeling guilty to do this to Akutagawa. His heart stopped when the line disconnected.

"(Y/n)-san..."

In the unmanned plane, Kyouka had her ankle chained to the floor and she was in a cage, receiving a call from (Y/n). "Kyouka, can you hear me? It's (Y/n). Dazai negotiated with the Gifted Special Operations Division. We can get you out of there, but you have to listen to me. I'm going to walk you through how to pilot that drone. First, you—"

"No more." Kyouka muttered, not wanting to free herself from her prison.

"...Listen, the truth of the matter is, the Agency doesn't have a reason to rescue you. I have no reason to rescue you. You aren't actually an official member yet. The Agency has an entrance test that it administers to all applicants, and as of now, you haven't passed it. The test is given to see if you have the heart and strength to help other people, even complete strangers. But with your background and experience..."

"...I wouldn't have passed." Kyouka finished, knowing what (Y/n) meant.

"I know. You believe a former assassin can no longer become a good person." (Y/n) pulls out a picture from her pocket and stared at Oda and herself in that photo while Dazai gazed at the box of cigarettes that's provided at Lupin. "For your sake, I hope that you are wrong."

"I'm sorry...I'm afraid I can't be a good person." Kyouka claimed, covering her face with her arms and letting out a cry.

"I'm trying to save your life here. Why can't you just let me help you?!"

"(Y/n)-chan, you're shouting." Dazai said, "That's not the way to help her."

"She's not cooperating—"

"If you want her to cooperate, start slow and get her know you and you to know her. Everyone has their strengths and weaknesses in this world, you both have a talent for killing. Because of that, you think she has no right in becoming a member of the Armed Detective Agency, but in reality, you're telling yourself that and portraying yourself onto her." Dazai clarified. "But that's simply not true. I can prove to the both of you in an instant how that's fundamentally false. For now, ask her a question."

"Okay." (Y/n) takes a deep breath. "Kyouka, how many people did you kill again?"

"Thirty-five." She answered, showing regret and guilt in her voice.
