                            Elizabeth's pov

The walk home consisted of me lost in my own mind and kicking rocks as they crossed my path. Did that actually happen? Did I dream that? Did Adam and I actually just kiss?

I mean, we've been best friends since we were little kids, we only ever had each other. During the pain of being orphans in a shitty orphanage, whenever one of us got in trouble and the other one was always there to comfort(even though it was usually me getting into trouble)

It's always been us, and right now, it feels like I'm about to lose half of myself.

Not only that, we've always just been best friends, despite the "are you two dating" questions from other kids are school or the statements of "you guys are adorable together," from old people, but we usually just shrugged it off, 'cause we never saw each other like that.

But recently, I have begun to feel a different kind of feeling whenever I was with him. I figured it was just because I was growing up and I was starting to feel actual attraction to boys and had outgrown the "boys have cooties" phase.

But still, I never thought anything would ever happen between us, and it's likely that nothing will again. He just kissed me... then left. Who the fuck does that? Him, apparently.

As I approached back to the house, I shook my head and tried to rid myself of all thoughts about kissing Adam.

I walked into the house and was met with the smell of cookies wafting through the air. I walked into the kitchen and saw Taylor pulling a pan of cookies out of the oven while Travis stood next to her, leaning his elbow onto the counter. He was saying something and she was giggling at whatever he said. But it was one of those giggles that said "I don't really find whatever you're saying that funny but you're hot and I'm in love with you so I'll laugh anyway."

"Liz! Hey! Perfect timing. Dinner's almost done and I made some cookies for dessert." Taylor said after she noticed me.

"Cool," I said. Trying to erase the last half-an-hour from my mind and focus on Taylor's amazing cooking.

"How was Adam? Was he excited?" Taylor asked.

I nodded. "Uhm, yeah. Yeah, he was real excited," I replied.

"Hmm, you okay?" Taylor replied. Dammit, either she knows me very well or I have a terrible poker face, probably both.

"Yeah, I'm okay. Just... gonna miss him, y'know? We've been close friends some we were little kids, he's basically like... y'know, a brother to me." Okay, that sounded weird the second it came out of my mouth, but since Taylor and Travis had no idea about what happened, it sounded perfectly normal and not weird to them.

"Awe, I know, honey. And I know it won't be the same, but I'm sure I'll be in LA a good amount and you can always come along and see him whenever we're there." Taylor replied.

I nodded. "Yeah, I guess. I'm just gonna miss seeing his face almost every day."

"I know, sweetheart. Hey, why don't we go put on a movie and eat in the living room while we watch? Travis is going out with a buddy tonight so it'll just be us. I'll even let you pick the movie."

"Yeah, that sounds like fun," I replied and Taylor smiled, reaching out a hand to me to help me off of the bed.
