Elizabeth's pov
I let out a huge breath of relief as the final bell rings to signify the end of the school day, and I'm the first one out of the classroom with my backpack slung over my shoulder. At least I survived, and I actually went to every class today.
When I got home, the house was very quiet. I walked through the hallway towards the living room, where I assumed Taylor would be.
When I walked in, Taylor was sitting on the rocking chair with her arms crossed, like she was clearly waiting for me. Ah, shit. What'd I do this time?
"Why do you always have to be sitting in the living room all menacingly to confront me about something? A heads-up text might be nice every once in a while." I said, Taylor didn't laugh.
I sighed and dropped my backpack next to the couch before moving to sit down. "So what'd I do now?"
"Do you wanna have the chance to tell me first, or should I just tell you?" Taylor replied.
"Well, there could be several things you could be about to scold me for, so I'm just gonna sit this one out and let you tell me."
Taylor didn't waste any time: "I had a meeting with your principal today."
Ah, shit. Yeah, this can't be good.
I didn't say anythin,g so Taylor continued, "she tells me that you're being marked as absent for multiple classes despite being at school that same day.
Damn, I didn't think they'd catch onto that.
"I'm also told that you're failing most of your classes?" Taylor replied.
Are they really outing all my secrets today?
I opened my mouth to reply, but nothing came out.
"So you're just not gonna say anything?" Taylor replied.
There were a few seconds of silence before I finally began to speak. "Uh- it's- well- school is hard! And I don't understand it, and I've been struggling and skipping classes for years 'cause clearly no one seemed to care!"
"Well, now someone does care, and I'm not letting it happen anymore. I have offered many times to help you with school work, but you kept refusing."
"I didn't wanna bother you with it!" I replied.
"Obviously, it doesn't bother me if I've offered many times! What does bother me is that you are just skipping assignments and school and happily failing."
I let out a huff but didn't say anything else.
Taylor let out a sigh and pinched the bridge of her nose, trying to calm down.
"Okay, this is what's gonna happen," she continued a few seconds later. "No more skipping school. You will be going to every class, and if I find out that you are absent from any more classes, there will be many more punishments coming your way. You will start doing your homework and turning it in. You will try to make up everything that the teachers let you, and you will also ask if there is any extra credit that you can do. Understood?"
"But-"
"Are we understood?" Taylor cut me off, and I slouched back in my seat. "Yes."
"Good. So why don't you go up to your room and get started on that? I guess that it'll take you a while to get all that done." Taylor said, and I just stood up, walking towards my room.
