After Taylor went upstairs to take her bath, I quickly grabbed my phone and started to order some chicken strips for Tay. Before I added anything else to the cart, I realized that I should probably see what Liz wants. I wasn't gonna not get her food or get something she didn't like just 'cause she was grounded.

With a deep sigh, I quietly made my way up to Liz's room and knocked gently.

"Go away!" I heard her exclaimed from inside.

"It's, me. Travis." I replied. "I'm about to order dinner. What do you want? I'm ordering Tay chicken strips."

Elizabeth didn't say anything and a few seconds later I gently pushed the door open. I peeked my head into see Liz lying on her bed, with her head in her pillow.

I pushed the door opened more and crept in. "Liz?"

Liz pushed her head out of the pillow to turn it towards the door. "Go away!" She repeated before pushing her head back into the pillow.

"Liz." I sighed, walking further in the room.

"What part of get out to do you not understand!" She exclaimed, throwing her pillow at me. I caught it with ease, sitting it down on the bed.

"C'mon kid, let's just talk for a second." I said, patting her leg and she looked at me again, her hair all ruffled and her face red.

"About what." She snarked back, sitting up.

"You understand why Taylor's upset, right?" I asked.

"No!" She replied. "It's not even a big deal! She's just overreacting!" She replied.

"Okay, hey, let's calm down, okay? I just want to talk normally." I said and she sniffled, sitting back against the bed.

I sighed before continuing to speak. "You really made Taylor upset."

She scoffed. "She's the one who grounded me."

"Because you had alcohol under your bed." I replied, trying to make my voice remain calm. "And you're fourteen. But what you said to Taylor really hurt her, whether you were upset or not."

"What could I have even said that upset her." She replies, furrowing her eyebrows.

"You said that she wasn't your mom." I replied.

"Well, she isn't." Liz shrugged, not understand.

"Liz." I sighed. "Taylor really cares about you, and she was so excited when she was telling me about you. I know I haven't known you for that long and I've barely seen you and Taylor together, but the way she cares for you and takes care of you. It's obvious she thinks of you as more of a daughter. So to hear you tell her the brutally honest truth that she isn't, hurt her a lot."

Liz remained silent, thinking my words over before finally speaking. "Oh." She said. "I didn't... know that."

"Yep." I replied. "And I know you just said it 'cause you were mad. But I was actually in the room, and I saw how Taylor's face changed so fast. She really loves you, Liz."

Liz glanced at Travis. "I should apologize, huh?"

"I'm not gonna force you to 'cause then it's not gonna seem honest. It's up to you." I replied.

"You know, you can be kinda smart, actually." Liz said and I furrowed my eyebrows, chuckling. "Is that surprising?"

"I mean, don't you ram your head into other people's for a living?" Liz asked.
