Elizabeth's pov
I figured that Vanessa would fizzle out after a few days but sadly, she was still here. It's not that I don't like her, she's just distracting Cal from everything else and she keeps sitting in my seat at lunch. Not to mention the weird look she always gives me when I try to talk to Cal when she's around. She also 'accidentally' bumped into me in the hallway once- yeah, I just don't like her.
The only somewhat good thing about it is that I've had more time to hang out with Adam recently. He's been coming over after school a little more and sometimes we'll go walk around at the mall.
Adam's my best friend, and I love hanging out with him, but whatever is going on between me and Cal has been confusing me more and more recently.
So today, after school, I decided to try and talk to him to find out what's going on and if I can even call him my boyfriend.
After the bell rang to dismiss the last class of the day, I quickly grabbed my stuff and headed out of the room towards my locker. When I got there, I saw Adam grabbing his backpack out of his locker and slinging it around his shoulder.
"Hey, Liz." He greeted me when I walked up.
"Hey, Adam." I replied, putting in the code to my locker.
"So, I was thinking that maybe tomorrow we could go do something fun? Like go back to the mall or to an arcade. Since it's a Saturday." He suggested.
"Yeah, sure." I nodded, that sounds like fun.
After I grabbed my stuff, I closed my locker and zipped up my backpack. "I'm trying to rush to talk to Cal before he leaves but I'll see you then! I'll talk to Taylor first and then text you to talk about what time."
"Okay." He nodded and I walked off, putting my backpack around my shoulders.
I decided to stop by his locker first to see if he's still there before looking outside. When he wasn't at his locker, I walked outside through the crowds of other kids to look for him. I looked for a few minutes before coming home empty and sighed.
I turned around to walk back to look for Drew when I finally saw his hand behind the brick wall. And I knew that it was his hand since he had the same bracelet on that he wears everyday.
"Finally." I sighed, turning and walking towards the brick wall. "Cal?" I called out, walking around the brick wall before my breath caught in my throat.
There was a Cal, with his hands placed on Vanessa's waist and his lips on hers.
When he heard my voice, he looked over Vanessa's shoulder and his eyes widened lightly as he subtly pushed Vanessa away. "Hey, Liz. What's up?"
"What's up?" I mocked, already feeling the tears burning in my eyes. "What- what the hell are you doing?!"
"Just- waiting to be picked up and hanging with Vanessa. What's the big deal?" He shrugged like it was nothing.
"You're- you're kissing her!" I exclaimed.
"Uhm, yeah. So? I didn't- I mean, it's not like we're official. I thought we were just having fun." He explained nonchalantly.
I just stared at him, not knowing what to say. "I can't- I can't believe this." I stuttered out.
"C'mon, Liz." He sighed. "We're literally freshman in high school. Did you expect this to just be a fully committed relationship. I figured you were messing around with Adam. No big deal."
