Taehyung's POV
I return to the bedroom and shut the door before placing a call to Jimin, but it goes to voicemail. "Fuck."
"Chim, please call me back. Code Red!" That's our code for emergencies.
I can't stop pacing the floor as I'm being overloaded with thoughts driven by panic. "Why didn't I tell Kookie before? I have to tell him, but when. I don't know how he'll react to Jackson if I tell him now. I then recall my training with The Agency for stress reduction. I sit on the firm mattress and take slow deep breaths and then blow out slowly while visualizing myself in my happy place, which is always Kookie's arms.
As I feel myself finally calming down, my phone rings. Great, its Chim. "Chim, I need your help!"
"Tae, this is Jackson Wang, you, okay?" Immediately I feel my heart start to race again.
"Jackson! My fiancé just told me my ex-client that fucked me several times is coming for dinner. No, I'm not okay."
"Tae, I know," he says as he exhales audibly. "I tried to decline but you know how persuasive Jungkook is. I thought about how terrible this must be for you."
"Jackson, does your husband know about us?"
"No, he doesn't know and he's of no concern." I'm puzzled that Jackson would say that.
"Why is he not a concern, Jackson?"
"Because he's come to his senses finally and is divorcing me."
"Oh," is all I can manage to say but I was not surprised. Because, in the short time that I met Baekhyun, he didn't appear happy with Jackson. He didn't trust him and knew he was unfaithful to their marriage vows.
"I'm sorry, Jackson." I'm not really sorry but it's the proper thing to say.
"Don't be. He's a good guy and goodness knows he's tried with my ass. He deserves more than my roaming dick. Thank God we're having an amicable divorce. He's giving me a settlement and, so far, we're getting along. The only problem is I finally figured out that I love him. I sure fucked that up." He chuckles softly which sounds painful. "It's too late and he's done. Like I said, he deserves better."
"Why is he coming if you're divorcing?"
"Well, we still do some things together for appearances. His idea, not mine. But he really likes you, Tae, and wants to see you again."
"Really, he wants to see me? You sure he doesn't know?"
"I'm sure, Tae."
"Jackson, I'm going to tell Jungkook. I'll do it after you leave."
"I understand, Tae. I just don't want to lose my friend." I don't really know Jackson, but on the occasions when we met, he was polite and patient. If Kookie considers him a good friend, he's not a bad guy. I do feel some compassion for him. It appears we share a common goal not to hurt Kookie.
"Jackson, I don't want that either. I just don't know how he'll react."
"Okay, Tae. It's apparent you both are happy and in love. You'll have a good marriage."
"Thanks, Jackson. Hey, I got another call coming in and I have to grab it. See you later."
"Hi, Chim. Thanks for calling."
"Tae, what the fuck is going on?" For some reason Jackson's call really helped me to settle and get off the ledge. I tell Jimin the details.
"Tae, I'd do the same and tell him afterward. Just relax. I think your only concern is his soon-to-be ex-husband."
