Part 27: My new friend Jimin

Tae's POV

As soon as Kookie leaves, a call comes in. It's Jin.

"Hi, Jin! How are you?"

"Hi, Tae. How are you?"

"Oh my God! Kookie's Dad is here for the week and apparently he heard us fucking last night and this morning. I'm beyond embarrassed..."

"Tae! Stop!" Jin yells.

"What? I thought you wanted to share more about sex."

"I do, but we're not alone."

'What?"

"Tae. Chanyeol is on the line with us." My heart plunges to my belly.

"No, no, you and Cousin Tae continue. I will happily wait," Chanyeol says.

"Oh My God! It's 9:00 am and I thought this day couldn't get any worse." I shake my head and seriously consider ending the call, climbing into bed and hiding under the covers.

"Cousin Tae, please don't be embarrassed. I'm happy someone is having sex. Also, dad's no prude and not judgmental in the least." Hearing him share this quickly eases my tension.

"Thanks, Chanyeol," I say quietly.

"I'm sorry, Tae," Jin says, "I wanted us to talk with Chanyeol as soon as possible."

At Jin's request, Chanyeol shares about his childhood and I'm shocked. How could this have happened to a child when there were so many others around?

"I'm so sorry, Chanyeol. Hearing what happened to you makes me furious. It's quite common and unfortunate that children who are hurt severely become abusers themselves. I get it."

"Thanks for listening, Cousin Tae."

"The question for me is can you change that cycle. I feel hopeful given that you are sober and appear open to letting us try to help you. I have to say honestly that I'm doing this for Kookie and your dad. However, I have to now add a little Chany that never had a chance. But can you change and rise to a new way of life?"

"Tae, I know it's a huge challenge, but I want to be better, and I will show you and Cousin Jin."

"And that's exactly what you'll have to do," Jin adds.

"Chanyeol, I think family is very important. I also think Kookie would benefit from a relationship with you."

"Thanks, Tae. Jin told me how you both want to help. I'd love the opportunity to work with Kookie and Namjoon. When do they want me to start? This is very exciting for me." My mouth drops open hearing his comment. This conversation will not be easy.

"Uh, ... Jin, did you talk with Chanyeol about how this might work?" I ask.

"No, I thought we might tell him together," Jin says. Oh boy.

"Okay, then." I speak slowly trying to figure out how to proceed. "Well, in these situations I find it best to just be honest about everything."

"I agree," he says with an excited and upbeat voice, "Honesty is good."

"That sounds good," Jin remarks. "Go ahead Tae." Apparently, I'm going to have to manage this matter. I had not considered that Jin has never worked, being married to a billionaire.

I've worked since I was 12 and have a management background. I know how business works so it makes sense I do this.

"To be honest, Chanyeol, Kookie and Namjoon weren't happy with the idea of you working with them. However, they have agreed that you deserve a chance. They have set some rules, however."
