We had landed on Tatooine and I was about to exit the ship when Anakin pulled me aside. "Wear this." He instructed grimly, handing me a large robe. He must have grabbed it from Padme's closet before we left.

I questioned why he wanted me to wear it. Of what I knew of the desert planet, it would most certainly be very warm— I mean, didn't Tatooine have two suns? There was no need for a jacket or coat.

"It's not to keep you warm." Anakin read my thoughts.

I put the robe on, still not understanding. "Then why—"

"Because you are a young and beautiful woman, and many of the population on this planet are fucking vile, disgusting, and depraved." He explained as if there was a bitter taste in his mouth as he spoke. He removed the belt from my robe that I had tucked around my waist securely, wanting the robe loose so the gown was as shapeless as possible. "If they see you, they will try to force you into slavery."

So much pain and anger was laced through his voice. His disgust for Tatooine was abundantly clear and I completely understood why he felt that way. And even though I could most definitely protect myself from the slavery trade, I didn't say anything. His actions were protective, and most likely due to an incredibly justifiable amount of trauma considering his own experience on this planet. He wasn't questioning my skill.

We got a ride into town

We got a ride into town. As we exited the vehicle, I took in my surroundings. Tatooine was an entirely beige-coloured landscape covered in coarse beads of sand. The heat was stifling and the two orbiting suns combined light was almost blinding. Many species including humans roamed it's grounds, and I wondered how anyone could survive this heat for so long— but it wasn't like most civilians had a choice of where to live given their finances. I noticed most were dressed in rags or weathered clothing, demonstrating the poverty the plagued their majority.

Anakin and I were practically joined at the hip since our arrival on this world. He wouldn't dare leave my side. He held my hand tightly as he helped me out of the vehicle, and constantly glanced back and forth to gauge the safety of my surroundings. His protectiveness warmed my heart, but it also saddened me that he felt the need (once again justifiably) to do so.

Anakin guided us towards one of the many small businesses in Mons Espa and approached a short, blue-skinned species with a trunk-like snout, small tusks, and leathery wings. From our biologic teachings at the Temple, I guessed he was a toydarian. We had learned of many species and languages that existed throughout the galaxy, hoping it would help us be more knowledgeable and respectful of different cultures and practices on our missions.
