*A/N - A filler chapter before something exciting(;*

Y/N's POV:

When Anakin left, he hadn't just left me. He had left Artoo behind too. So I took him under my wing, knowing exactly how it felt to think you were something Anakin would always cherish and then being dropped by him out of nowhere.

Artoo had become my closest confidant and companion this past year. I had even learned to speak droid!

He knew immediately when I entered my room after my interaction with Anakin in the gardens that something was wrong, rolling towards me and beeping with concern.

"I'm okay, Artoo." I told the dutiful blue and white astromech.

"You look like you've seen a ghost" He beeped.

"I have some news, buddy. I don't know how you're going to react." I confessed, unsure of how he would handle his creator's return. "Anakin is back for the gala."

The camera lens radar eye on the droid seemed to widen in response. He didn't make any noise for a minute, seeming to contemplate his feelings on the matter. Some claimed droids didn't have feelings but I was certain that wasn't the case, especially with Artoo.

He rolled back and forth before meeting my eyes again. He booped and whistled. "Let's show Anakin what he's missing... I'll call Padme."

Before I could object, Artoo— who I had programmed to be able to access to my communication devices— was calling the Senator over the holopad.

Padme, just as I had wished, had become my best friend this past year.

Shortly after the battle of Geonosis, she found me sobbing behind one of the decorative columns at the Temple while she was visiting on senate related duties. I was totally embarassed and tried to deny that I had been crying, but my watery eyes were obvious. She invited me over to talk and immediately she asked if my tears had something to do with Anakin. She said she knew something was bound to happen on Naboo and that she could sense the attraction to each other before we did. I found it funny how to Force sensitive beings took so long to figure out what she did within seconds of seeing us together.

She wasn't at all judgmental. She said she believed the "no attachments" policy was a stupid rule and that love isn't something we can control. For some reason I knew I could trust her— so I shared everything.

We'd become so close. I loved going to her legendary tea parties, going out to the club with her, or drinking her expensive wines that she insisted on me trying. She'd even invited me to Naboo, but that was something I had to decline which she understood. I couldn't go back there— it would bring up too many memories.

She picked up the call after the first ring. "Padme,"

As I was about to explain the reason for the call, she cut me off. "I heard. News travels fast."

Of course the return of prophesied Chosen One and war hero would be the topic of conversation for all of Coruscant.

"I have to go now, but come over tomorrow afternoon. I'm helping you get ready for the gala." Padme insisted. "We're gonna show Anakin just what he lost."

"Thank you, Mae." I smiled, using the endearing nickname she said only her closest confidants were allowed to call her. The girl was a true friend. Despite her long history with Anakin, who she claimed to think of as a brother, she was disgusted by his actions, and had become very protective of me.

Ending the call, I changed into my cropped t-shirt and sleep shorts. I was about to settle in my bed for the night when a loud banging knock could be heard coming from the opposite side of my door.
