I woke up in the morning and immediately shivered at the lack of body warmth Anakin had provided last night. I rose up in the bed as my eyes skimmed around the room, wondering where the boy in question had gone.

"The alarm we set went off earlier but you looked so peaceful. I didn't want to wake you." The young Jedi explained. He was getting dressed for the day, putting a tunic over his toned body, and I stopped myself from wishing I had been awake earlier to witness the entire display.

"Y/N," he cleared his throat. Clearly he had noticed me staring at his now clothed chest, but he didn't say anything. I was surprised at his lack of egomania— usually he would have made some sort of arrogant comment about "liking what I see." and given me his signature smirk, but instead a state of disquietude seemed to encapsulate his features.

"What is it?" I asked him. It was obvious he had something he wanted to say. I just hoped he wasn't about to press me on the nightmare I had last night.

He sighed, pacing slowly towards me with his head hung low, hesitant. "I know you don't want to talk about it now, but I think when you're ready we should—"

I flinched. I wasn't ready to revisit the details. "You're right. I don't want to talk about it now." I replied defensively, my voice holding a sharp tone as a warning for him to drop it.

His frown lines deepened, his forehead creased. "Y/N..."

"Why are you pretending to care?" I snapped, shoving the bedsheet covers aggressively off of me as I got out of bed and stood up to face him in confrontation.

"What?" His brows shot up at my sudden twist in demeanour.

"You're acting all concerned about my nightmare, and last night you were holding me and comforting me back to sleep. Why did you do that?" I asked him, crossing my arms at my chest. "It must have been incredibly hard for you all things considered."

My comments seemed to anger Anakin, most likely because he hated being called out. He huffed and his nostrils flared. "It wasn't."

"Really? I find that hard to believe considering how you told me how little I meant to you back in the alley." I countered.

"Don't say that. You have no idea how I'm feeling, Y/N." He raised his voice, staring intensely in my eyes. Our bodies squared up to one another with hostility, tension filled the room, both of us getting more frustrated by the second. I don't know how he could defend himself, to make such a statement after claiming the opposite not too long ago.

"You made it pretty clear earlier." I matched his volume with my own voice and attempted to shove him away from me.

He didn't move an inch from his position. I should have used the Force when I pushed him. "I wanted to be there for you, Y/N." He said it so insistently in a way that almost looked genuine. I looked at him with disbelief and confusion.

"Whatever," I rolled my eyes, refusing to believe him. "I'm going to get ready for breakfast— which, by the way, you should have woken me up earlier for because now we are going to be late for meeting royalty. What a great first impression we're making." I said sarcastically as I looked at the time before heading to the on-suite. We were supposed to meet them in 5 minutes, and I definitely wasn't going to be ready in that amount of time— especially since I couldn't just slap on my Jedi robes as I was playing the role of Princess too.

"Your Majesties, it is an honour to meet you both. It is a shame it's not happening under better circumstances." I bowed to Adamian King Orion and Queen Consort Cressida when we had reached the dining Hall for our formal breakfast, as it was a customary part of royal etiquette according to Master Yoda.
