I forgot the way Colin's jaw twitched when he's trying not to laugh at me. His dimples are at their best even when he's holding his cheeks in like he is right now. It's distracting.
"Don't you think you're overreacting a little?" he asks, one eyebrow raised.
"No," I have to stop looking at him.
"Sarah," Colin sighs. "Look, I don't know what you want me to say. I know I shouldn't have done it but I've prayed and I've talked to your dad so I could repent. Just let it go."
"It's not that easy for me," I cross my arms.
"Then maybe you should pray some more," Colin shrugs. "Just come home, okay? You'll get over it."
"No, Colin, I'm not coming back," I tell him.
"You don't have a choice," he laughs.
"Yes I do, I'll stay here," I turn to face him again.
"No, you won't," Colin's still laughing at me.
"What are you going to do?" I ask. Colin sighs but walks toward me and before I even realize it he's bent down and lifted me over his shoulder. "Colin!" I gasp.
"You asked for it," he laughs but gently lets me down, my body sliding against his until my feet hit the floor. He holds me close to him. "Hey," he looks down into my eyes. "Tell me you haven't missed me just a little."
"I haven't," I say but I don't try to pull away from him.
"Look, I drove all the way out here," he says. "Your father says you should forgive me and come home. I know you're supposed to stay another week but do you promise to come back to me?"
"No," I shake my head. His jaw twitches.
"What's it gonna take, Sarah?" Colin asks. "I don't know what more you want from me. I've done everything I'm supposed to. Are you just going to turn your back on God?"
"No, I need more time," I sigh.
"So what then?" Colin sighs. "You can't expect me to just go home and wait all week to see if you show up."
"Why not?" I ask.
"Because that's not how it works, Sarah," Colin laughs and brushes the hair off my face. "I'm not going to sit around hoping you show up. Either tell me you're coming back or I'll take you with me right now."
"Fine," I sigh. "I'll come back."
"I don't believe you," Colin narrows his eyes.
"Then why did you even ask?" I demand, trying to pull away from him.
"I don't actually know," Colin shrugs and holds me tighter. "You can't get away, Sarah, I'm a lot stronger than you."
"Doesn't mean I have to make it easy on you," I insist.
"You're just going to hurt yourself," Colin laughs. "But go ahead, I'm enjoying it," he says.
"I hate you," I huff, still fighting. He's right though, I'm pretty sure I can't get free. All I can really do is squirm against him which I'm sure will just turn him on.
"I don't think you do," Colin says. "I think you love me."
"No way," I stop fighting so I can glare at him.
"If you hated me you wouldn't care if I was out with a hundred other girls," Colin smirks at me. "You'd be glad I was leaving you alone, not mad that I cheated on you. Admit it, you were jealous."
"I was not jealous," I thought I was mad before but now I'm really angry. "Why would I be jealous of some nasty girl who lets you do that kind of thing to her in public?"
