Simple Rhyme
I know I'm not in the same class
As Wordsworth, Keats or Shelley
Or Pam Ayres, the country lass,
Who reads poems on the tele.
But still I dream, maybe one day,
I'll have a stroke of luck,
And perhaps my work just may
Be published in a book.
I know that from my simple rhyme
I'll never make a mint,
Still I hope I'll see, some time,
Just one of them in print.
To see my work in print, I know,
Is just my foolish pride,
For my poems are really meant to show,
Just what I feel inside.
