Welcome Spring
Spring came softly shyly creeping
While Winter, her cold watch still keeping,
Hung on grimly, guarding with zeal
Her cold, icy kingdom that Spring thought to steal.
But Winter's tight hold became weaker and brittle
And shy, gentle Spring took o'er little by little:
As she touched the cold ground with fingers of green
Pale shoots took over where snow had once been,
So gradually Winter faded away
And shyly and quietly Spring held her sway.
