Whatever Happened to Grannies?
When I was young all grannies had
Such dignity and grace
With long black skirts and high-necked blouse
And wrinkles in their face.
They had shoulder-shawls and rocking chairs
And flat shoes on their feet
They pulled grey locks tight in a bun
To make their role complete.
But nowadays most grannies are
Quite smart and chic and trim
They get involved with games and sport
And dance and jog and swim.
With tinted hair and modern dress
They look quite like film stars
They'd look askance at rocking chairs
They'd rather drive fast cars.
But still I'm sure that even if
They don't quite look the part
They still have lots of love to give
'Cos they're grannies still at heart.
